Andrés Esteche who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but who we all remember for his latino hits Just like a boomerang and Olé olé from Melodifestivalen is ready with a new single I wanna be free and a new album to come out in October. "It's not like I have been away really. I was doing Footloose in Stockholm but if you are not seen everywhere people think you are away. Finished and disappeared especially if your latest single was a flop" he says in an interview with QX. "The new album is more Kylie Minogue and George Michael with some Coldplay. There won't be any Enrique Iglesias or Ricky Martin in it" he laughs "but it is nice two have at least two hits I will live with the rest of my life unlike Rickard Herrey who has only one!"
He also talks about being gay and what it brings along. "The lyrics in the new songs are no longer so neutral, there's a lot of boys and mans in them now. I don't know so many artists have dared to do that before but for me and who I am today it is important. It's such a shame that gays tend to idolize you when things go well and kill you when things go bad. There should be more solidarity amongst us but I won't be the first one to throw the stone into the glasshouse!" he says. "It is also a bit difficult to date guys. Some want to be with me just because who I am, some don't want to date me because who I am. And sometimes it goes well until I get busier and more visible with my career and they want out." Finally he says he's not very active with his fan group in Qruiser. "I use Qruiser for other things!"
