Chris Clark aka The White Negress may have had only one hit with Motown (Love's gone bad, 1966) but she sure was a sight when touring with the Motown artists: platinum blond 6 foot tall lady. Yester-me, yester-you, yesterday was first recorded but not released by her in 1966. It was released as a single by Stevie Wonder in September 1969 becoming a #7 US and #2 UK hit for him. Stevie had some vocal problems at the time and actually the song was recorded already two years earlier. He also released an Italian version of it: Solo te, solo me, solo noi.
Chris went on to co-write Diana Ross' Lady sings the blues and got an Oscar nomination and later became an executive for Motown film and television division.
Jennifer Rush covered the song in 1985 and also Boystown Gang. in 1984
