Israeli Justin Timberlake. So he is called. He is the third youngest artist this year, and one of the most inexprienced as he just came to the spotlight a few months ago when participating (and winning) a talent show in his homecountry Nadav turned 16 only last November. But he and his team has managed to create him a full package: a catchy song Golden boy, and an image to match, even with a slogan from the song that went viral after the song was released: Before I leave, let me show you Tel Aviv. For the first time Israel also drops any Hebrew parts in the song and goes full English version. The song itself is a real cocktail of old and new, Mediterranean and global styles in three minutes but strangely it all works!
Nadav was born in Paris and raised in Israel. His musical influences go from hip hop to r'n'b, soul and Israeli music and indeed he managed to unite all these genres in his entry. In the talent show HaKokhav HaBa he performed songs by Rihanna, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars. and even Celine Dion's Ne partez pas sans moi. After Eurovision it's time for him to think about his musical future. He says he knew "this is it" once he heard Golden boy. The song is a celebration of the inspiring freedom of Tel Aviv and besides featuring the infamous reference to the city itself it also ends with a memorable way: Ok, we gotta go, 3 minutes. Bye bye!
Israel, once the Eurovision power nation hasn't survived the semifinal for the past five years. Will Nadav make it? I think he will. Hopefully they manage to keep their act together, get the cameras right (unfortunatly last year everything went wrong staging Mei Finegold...) The song stands out, it's fun and engaging, constantly changing and evolving in three minutes keeping the excitement and interest up. Indeed, it's a short three minutes! This is a song you'd like to go on a bit more .... :-) In my top-10 and hopefully also in final top-10 in Vienna!
Pull me baby, I'm your trigger
You know that my love is bigger
Love, Love, Love
I'm a golden boy
Come here to enjoy
I'm the king of fun
Let me show you how we do it
And before I leave
Let me show you Tel Aviv
All of sudden I have a urgent need to visit Tel Aviv.....
