Switzerland: Here are the Italian entries

Also the Italian speaking Swiss radio-TV RSI has made public its entries. The jury has already chosen five songs to the final to be held on November 8, 2011 and the online voting will add two more songs to the line up. From this kind of semifinal two top songs will go to the Swiss final in December. And to make things confusing there are once again same artists listed as in other language TVs selections but the ones the Italian speaking jury have chosen are Gianluca Solci, Rossella, Silla and two of my favourites from elsewhere, Sinplus and Vittoria Hyde. You can listen to their songs and all the others here. Amongst them is Barbara Berta (ESC 1997) and Flavio Cristilli (Euroviisut 2007). Worth mentioning are also Hirion and Rino Dilugano  The voting goes on until October 24, 2011.

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam

Boobs for summer: Samantha vs Sabrina!

The old rivals have put their bras (or the lack of them) in peace and entered the studios together to record Blondie's boombastic Call me . Life could be worse.....

One of the true Italian music legends Milva has passed away. Besides her immense international career she also holds the record of Sanremo festival presences: 15. No other artist, male or female, has done 15 festivals solo. She also holds the record of consecutive participations: 9 (from 1961 to 1969. Her last participation was in 2007. Born Maria Ilva Biolcati in summer 1939 she won a contest organized by Rai in 1959 for new voices and the rest is history in Italian pop, German schlager and French chanson. Add theater, films, television, Brecht, Morricone, Battiato, Theodorakis, Vangelis.... She has recorded and releases a total of 173 albums, another record for an Italian artist, in various languages when counting studio (35), live and various compilations. She met success especially in Germany but also France, Japan, South Korea and Latin America.  To this blogger personally she's known thanks to her collaborations with Franco Battiato, and obviously Sanremo. of those entries my

Alternative rock band Cyan Kicks was founded in Helsinki 2016. They mix in their music hard rock with melodic pop and electronic sounds. The members are Susanna Alexandra (vocals), Niila Perkkiö (guitars), Leevi Erkkilä (bass) and Pietari Reijonen (drums). They have written their entry Hurricane with Swedish-Danish Eliza Ryd, singer in Amarathe and it's been produced and mixed with American Chris Walla and Zakk Cervini. Their debut single Feathers was released in 2017 but it was the second single Gasoline that brought them to radio waves and notoriety. Critics have labeled them as a very possible export product. Their debut album I don't love you (2019) was nominated for Emma award as the best rock album of the year. Last year they released their second album Not your kind and their latest (and 10th) single is Invincible . Late last year they also did a cover of Blind Channel's I died enough for you . Check out also The Flood , Tidal wave , Wish you well   and Beat of m

BESS is a pop artist from Helsinki who mixes electronic sounds to house and pop but her musical journey has been trough classical music, Michael Jackson, jazz, reggae and heavy periods just to name a few. She's got a recognizable voice, a double platinum selling single ( Tempo ), over 20 million streams for her singles and debut album that sold gold before its release and yet she's pretty much unknown to a wider audience. Eurovision has been one of her "Well, then some day....." dreams but now the someday is here. And she's going to be a household name after it. Her first releases are dated 2017 and she usually works with Nopsajalka and as many other singers these days has done also several featurings ( Pimeyteen with Mikael Gabriel, 100% with Keko Salata and Seittemän with Raappana). For futher listening listen to Peace ,   Viisi kesää (feat. Nopsajalka) and   Melodia ,  She has written her entry Ram pam pam with Jonas Olsson and Tomi Saario.

Here they are, and for once the names were not leaked ahead of time (let's see how it goes for the songs though....) and as the fandom had been speculating and investigating the clues the past week none of the names was a surprise, on the contrary. All were out and loud and some even a certain thing. But let's have a look in order of my excitement from most to none. I will do a better bio and review one by one as the songs are being released at midnight Finnish time.  Out of names that were also heavily circulating Tomi Saario is one of the writers for Bess, Haloo Helsinki for Tommi Läntinen. Ad Elize Ryd of Amarathe as a co-writer for Cyan Kicks, Desmond Child for The Rasmus, Vilma Alina for Younghearted so the name dropping wasn't in vain. The Rasmus - Jezebel I was a bit of a The Rasmus fan, and especially Lauri's solo fan and if this combo with Desmond Child took part in say 2010 I would have been pissing my pants in excitement. Now all I do is hope for a real har

Well, almost. The boys celebrated their 650.000th follower on Twitter by being photographed fresh from shower as promised. It's not the first time they drop their clothes as you see here . Meanwhile their second album is nearly here and the title track Young love is hitting the charts....

Loreen. A legend for some. A one hit wonder for most. Since winning Eurovision song contest 2012 with Euphoria she has released seven singles. None of them has left the mark really. Her third attempt in Melodifestivalen this year with Statements ended up in a real defeat.  Now she's ready to finally release her second album Nude in August. The lead single is Body . It's... well, like her previous stuff. Okeyish to listen to when it's on but completely forgettable once it's finished.... Pretendious comes to mind. But then maybe I just don't get her. Maybe I never did. Her fans are surely euphoric. Maybe.  Listen in Spotify
