Both Carola and Lena Philipsson opened with their new floor shows in Stockholm this weekend and faith has it the venues are in walking distance from each other. Lena started with her 25th anniversary show and the reviews were good. That woman is a born comedian and entertainer. She's got a great script and band, a lot of dancers and her career moves on smoothly and her old hits get an update to 2010's.
Carola on the other hand is performing classics from Elvis Presley and Barbra Streisand while remembering her childhood when her late parents only listened to these two artists. Touching? Maybe but in the end also boring judging the critics. She also apparently forget one very important thing when doing a show, not a concert: the script. If one is to talk between songs it helps if you have thought it beforehand what to say.
Summing it up it seems Lena was more professional, funnier and better in every way. Indeed she has never been better. And that raises a question: What is Carola's future? It's been five years since a pop album. It is well to do Christmas albums and covers but for how long? What is her commercial future? Lena Philipsson is releasing her new album in the end of November and a safe bet is that it is going to be smash hit again. The schlager queen crown has a new owner, and it's not Carola.
