Oh wow, that's all what can be said about the viewing figures last night: the best since 1995 (when television was very, very different from today!) as an average of 10.757.000 viewers tuned in last night with an average of 14.160.000 watching the first part until midnight. Another 378.000 have watched the stream online, with an increase of 40% to last year.
Blanco's immature behavior caused a stir and enraged viewers and audience in the theater and infuriated also the Mayor and businesses of Sanremo. Flowers is their main business and they feel destroying them like that is not acceptable. This morning Blanco apologized Amadeus in person and published also on his social medias a kind of apology but that isn't enough, the Mayor demands an apology for the city and its people as well. Watch the Drama evolving here.
Tonight the remaining entries will be revealed, among them Giorgia who has participated among Big three times and has finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Sadly she has also said she's not intending to go to Eurovision should she win and would rather see someone younger having that opportunity. It's worth remembering she could have done Eurovision in 1995 when she won. Oh, that's the record year now beaten mentioned earlier! And last but not least the very welcome comeback by Paola & Chiara!
Tonight's co-hostess with Amadeus and Gianni Morandi is Francesca Fagnani. Three Eurovision veterans unite as Albano (1976, 1985), Massimo Ranieri (1971, 1973) and Gianni Morandi (1970) perform together. Black Eyes Peas ae tonight's international guests and there's a string of other names. From outdoor stages we have Nek and Francesco Renga, as well as Fedez from the cruise ship performing. The voting is by the medias just like last night.

The live begins with jokes about last night Blanco chaos and thank yous for the huge audience, a peak of over 16 million viewers. And talking about roses and petals it's time to sing Grazie dei fior, the very first Sanremo winner by Nilla Pizzi in 1951.
Total white for Will, who's one of the Giovani qualifiers, singing Stupid. Have I mentioned yet the stage is awesome! His song is a typical rap pop of 2020's with the slightly annoying way of singing/pronouncing. Am I old? He on the other hand seems very happily nervous.
From typical sound of today to typical sound of yesteryear. They are back after ten years. And yes, they're in white shirts and dark vests and pants, except lead singer Kekko who's sporting dark all over. Maybe blue? And indeed time has stood still. This could have been their entry ten years ago. Or 20 years ago. You either like it or not.
Errrr... what was that? Achille Lauro meets Anna Oxa's vocals and they want to be Pertti Kurikan nimipäivät what comes to song's lenght? And yes, he's in black. I have no regrets I will have the CD by TV Sorrisi e Canzoni that misses this one song compared to the official compilation.
After this we will have over half an hour of Albano (soon 80), Massimo Ranieri (soon 72) and Gianni Morandi (78)belting out their hits from 1960's on....
Total white for these do old time pop rappers. They nicely continue the theme we have been the past 30 minutes plus. Nostalgic lyrics by oldies longing for times they were young, just like their sound and song.
Guess what? Black and glitter in his outfit! First sounds of 90's italodisco, where is this going to? Nowhere apparently. A bit shouty. Typical Italopoprap that I can't quite digest. Maybe this one's better in studio, too?
The one I have been waiting for tonight the most. A comaback after 22 years in sparkly blue top and shorts and black boots. She already has all the trophies: 1st, 2nd and 3rd - how will it go this time? Hmm... I'm not completely convinced, maybe I expected something more melodic and I'm not sure her voice is at top form tonight. Shame.
After some serious talk on women's rights, Iran and the rest we are off to outdoor stage with Francesco Renga and Nek. Libertà, libertà, libertà!
The ones I have been waiting for tonight the second most. A bit color for them as usual; white and light beige with pink and purple. I loved Musica leggerissima and this is similar yet very different. Yes yes yes I like this.
***Twitter just informed I have reached my daily number of tweets and can't tweet again. And then they say the limit is 2.400. Ok. I don't think I have sent 2.400 tweets the whole year. Ever. Maybe it's a sign to go to bed and leave the rest for tomorrow. Buona notte! ***
Black Eyed Peas
Leopard - or some other animal inspired - dress and boots for Shari, one of the newcomers who present one of the oldest song in the contest. A typical Sanremo ballad. And interesting voice. Not necessarily in a positive meaning of the world but that's just me.
Another total white outfit. I have been eyeing Madame the poast two years or so trying to decided should I become a true fan or just keep eye on her. The number of songs I like is growing with this one. Excellent performance, simple but secure. Catchy uptempo, modern yet familiar. This will go far.
Levante - Vivo ***Another singer I have been eying trying to decide if I like her or not. She's also in black leather with very short shorts and top. And she's gone from brunette to yellowish Mina lookalike. But I must say Madame wins this battle hands down. A bit forced vocals don't help. Despite her living an erotic dream on stage....
Tananai - Tango ****Last year he came last but made a fortune out of it becoming one of the favorites this year, and with a completely different song. He challenges Mengoni in same genre with his tender, classical ballad. Quite a contrast to his music videos which I don't quite know what to think about it - should I be cynical or love it? Anyways, on stage this feels true and honest. In his purple suit, light blue shirt and big oink flower. Adorable. (And I wasn't fan last year)
Rosa Chemical - Made in Italy ****He's in fluid black outfit and I expected almost anything but this uptempo folklore beat fun and craziness. The lyrics are what they are but never mind. Made in Italy! Makes me think of Verka Serduchka really....
LDA - Se poi domani ***One of the newcomers sing the most old school Sanremo there is, could be his dad's old one. Kind of song that you know how it goes before he sings on and you can just sing along if you wish even if you never heard this before. Melodic and pretty, sweet and innocent. We need this kind of song, too, I guess.
Total blue for him with white shoes.
Paola & Chiara - FuroreThe BIG comeback and we are right back where we were left, when they went separate ways. Even their choreography is right from that era Eurovision. Silvery glittery sprarkly one with six half naked male dancers by Luca Tommassini. Add hand claps and it's all fantastic, fabulously wonderful.
At some point of the evening this happened:
Better move on to the partial results of tonight:
And the two first night combined :
And on to the third night!
