Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision Pabandom iš naujo! 2023 reached the final this Saturday after two Heats and two semi-finals where 30 songs first became 20, and then ten for the final line up. Judging the semi-finals Rūta Mur, Beatrich, Paulina Paukštaitytė and Petunija should be the front runners but we have seen in previous years in Lithuania things may change in one performance.
Let's have a look what's in store for Liverpool.
Beatrich - Like a movie **
How come this sounds so familiar?! Like from some movie indeed. That's all I say.
Gabrielis Vagelis - Šauksmas ****
He's back again and as always I do like his song. Very lovely atmosphere, melody and arrangement. A bit French 80's/90's music vibe that I used to listen a lot back in those days.
Il Senso - Sparnai **
I get a bit the feeling they are fake opera singers as their voices aren't that powerful. The melody isn't that special either and the arrangement non existing. They could have done this so much better. This lacks all energy and drama.
Justé Kraujelyté - Need more fun **
Quite annoying verses, the chorus is better but still.... Good production and sound but.... No.
Mario Junes - Do what you do *
Quite sleepy verses and useless chorus. He comes alive a bit too late.
Monika Linkyté - Stay **
The Eurovision veterans drop like flies in most every selection (except Marco Mengoni), she made it at least to the final! First hearing didn't make a great impression, maybe this is a grower, I don't know.
MoonBee - Rumor **
Eestilaul staging, ok. Hippie vibes. Ok. And then nothing.
Paulina Paukštaitytė - Let me think about me **
Starts off as a beautiful ballad and turns into something psychedelic and very unoriginal chorus. Yawn.
Petunija - Love of my life ****
This could be a grower like Ieva Zasimauskaité was. No thrills classic beautiful piano ballad, after all those other songs this sounds very good. Not ruined with gimmicks and weird arrangements and beats.
Rūta Mur - So low ***
Ok, 80's. So Bronski Beat in a way. Makes me feels nostalgic in a good way. But is it enough, strong enough? Not sure.
