The 74th Sanremo was again a five day affair hosted for the 5th year in a row by hit maker Amadeus. His choices for the festival have sold already millions and beaten his previous records in streaming and sales and those platinum and multiplatinum certifications keep coming every week for the artists. The winner La noia was just awarded a double platinum record. As usual there were several previous Eurovision stars taking part from Mahmood to Il Volo, Emma and Ricchi e Poveri. And for the first time in ten years a woman won! However by far the biggest hit has been Mahmood's Tuta cold that incredibly didn't make the Top-5 superfinal and placed only 6th. Then again, after 2019 and 2022 maybe he didn't need it anymore....
Angelina Mango (22) is relatively a new name to the music scene in Italy. Daughter of legendary Mango (read more here) and Laura Valente, ex-voice of Matia Bazar among others, it was clear she would end up doing music. She plays guitar and piano besides singing and is also a dancer. She started playing live in a cover band with her brother and did her first recording on his father's album at the age of 10.
Her professional music career started in 2020 when she released her debut single Va tutto bene and an EP. The year after she tried her luck with Sanremo Giovani with La tua buona colazione without luck. More singles followed; Formica, Walkman and Rituali. She also scored her first tv appearances.
In November 2022 she was accepted to Amici reality talent tv search shows placing second and winning the singers' selection. She released more songs: Voglia di vivere (Gold) and Mani vuote.
In May 2023 she scored her first real hit Ci pensiamo domani (#2 and triple platinum )and she hasn't stopped since. Che t'o dico a fa' released in October 2023 was another #2 hit and sold double platinum.
In 2024 she is also featured in Piove forte by Stabber, Gemitaiz and Yung Snapp.
So, what do I think? I liked many songs i Sanremo and Angelina was one of my favorites. It's fun, energetic, catchy and she's great on stage. Yet, she's not my number one favorite in Eurovision like Italy is most every year. Last time Italy wasn't my favorite they won so I suppose she's going to win it all in Malmö. And I couldn't be happier! How it would happen I suppose is she's not neither people's not jury's favorite but ends up winning. Just like my Favorite this year (that will be revealed later)
Our Home Jury also liked her with every one giving her from 6 to 10 except one disliker giving her only 2!
