Austria's ORF chose internally Kaleen with 90's dance banger We will rave. The video is also pure 90's with bare chested muscle hunks drooling over her like she was Madonna, Janet or Paula Abdul. Kinda nostalgic.
Kaleen or Marie-Sophie Kreissl (29) is no stranger to Eurovision even if her name maybe doesn't ring a bell. She's been involved many years already as stand-in singer (most notably Eleni Foureira's Fuego), dancer and choreographer for interval acts in 2018, creative director for both Spain and Bulgaria in Jesc 2021. In 2022 she was creative director for Spain and overall stage director. Last year she helped with the stage performances of Austria, Armenia, Germany and Georgia. I suppose this is a first in the contest history someone with CV like that steps into spotlight? Surely we have dozens if not hundreds of backing singers who have done that.....
She comes from a musical family and started ballet at at the age of 2 and as a 7-year-old she won her first Austrian championships. In 2014 she took part in Germany's Got to Dance and reached the final. Since 2020 she's been working for ORF as choreographer and director.
Her singing career started in 2021 with the release of her first single. We will rave is her 8th, and she released her debut album in 2023.
So, what do I think? We will rave is a nostalgic 90's banger that has its moments. Clearly produced to highlight the choreography but this doesn't scream it as badly as for example Israel last year. Knowing her CV we can expect quite a show. This said, this isn't an Eurovision winner but will do well most likely.
In our Home Jury the 90's vibe scored well with all votes minimum 7.
