17. ROMANIA
This is exactly what you would except. Vlad starts alone, Nico enters and they wander around until they meet in the climax of the song and sing hand in hand the grand finale. Very Sanremo indeed, a bit like Oxa-Leali in 1989 with reversed roles.
19. GREECE
Greece has really put on effort in their staging. A huge book dominates the stage, and when it is opened up a bigger than life heart comes out. Kalomira is also dancing like possessed with her dancers who also bring her on stage in the beginning like a modern time Kleopatra. I must admit I was never a fan of this, and still think the song is rather repetetive and boring and but the performance rocks. And Kalomira's ok until she starts talking.... A top-5 material.
18. RUSSIA
Russia concluded the day instead of Greece due some logistic problems. And no wonder: the act includes an ice ring on stage with World & Olympic figure skating champion Eugeni Pluschenko, Hungarian violinist Edvin Marton with a 300-year-old Stradivarius, a ladder for Dima. Sounds confusing but it seems to work and Russia is a top contender for victory this year. And apparently they know it, too. a bit too well....
