Once again Blogilkar's home jury has sat through the songs and videos and voted from 1 to 10. This year the jury consisted of pre-teens, 20somethings, 30somethngs, 40somethings and 50somethings. Even a dog participated and went nuts for Romania but was not allowed to vote. Most of the jury members had not heard any of the songs beforehand, some not even the Finnish one.And yes, this jury didn't care for betting odds, fan favorites or wanks but only their own taste and first impression!
In the end it was a very close run and as many favorites had very divided opinions and votes those that were liked a lot or at least fairly well ended up on top instead of The Netherlands and Portugal (and Iceland and Italy, too) that may have scored most tens and nines. And UK and Norway had to be cut into pieces to find a minor preference. Sharing the same number of 10s, 9s and 8s it was down to 7s in favor of UK for the win!
1. UNITED KINGDOM - SAM RYDER - SPACE MAN (Average score 7,72)
Excellent, fresh, convincing. Great vocals, catchy tune - what's there not to like?! Yet this final result surprised as all a bit....
2. NORWAY - SUBWOOLFER - GIVE THAT WOLF A BANANA (Average score 7,72)
Good
for gym or running, I would dance to this like crazy at 3 am again
with some alcohol in my blood. Could be annoyingly ”funny” but
this is funny in a good way. Catchy and likable. Weird masks and lyrics. I wanna dance to this! Poor granny! Also this ending 2nd was quite a surprise to everyone!
3. THE NETHERLANDS - S10 - DE DIEPTE (Average score 7,43)
Charisma,
great voice, capturing song and explodes in that simple and effective
chorus. Wonderful to hear Dutch again. But also horrible, why not in English? But how this will be live?
Staging? Hopefully kept very simple! Some very strong support for this vs. a few very low scores.
4. PORTUGAL - MARO - SAUDADE, SAUDADE (Average score 7,29)
Goosebumps
from the beginning, fantastic voice and atmosphere. Emotional, just
beautiful and catchy and yet so melancholic, a real saudade. Makes me
want to cry a bit. This is so going into my playlist! Beautiful voice and beautiful girl. Like the Dutch entry a string of tens and then a few very low scores.
