Today the first countries took take 30 minutes on Eurovision 2022 stage in Pala Olimpico di Torino, and apparently there were some problems with the rotating sun but generally most delegations were happy, at least in public. Here are some photos published by eurovision.tv with some first impressions - even if it's a bit insane to do any when having not seen a thing really but that's what we do. Judge without seeing. Enjoy!
Albania opens the show and just like the song is a cliché of of the Eurovision ethnic dance bangers of yesteryear so it seems is their performance: Bare chested men in skirts to please the gaydom and fandom. How very original. Not. Not impressed at all. And that is just my own opinion, nothing more. I'm just a bit tired of this genre.
Latvia is colorful and energetic as expected with a lot of veggies in the backdrop as expected, because it's sexy as f*ck.
Lithuania sticks to the same performance as before, even with the same silver and black dress. Why not if it worked the first time? Focus is on her and her seductive moves. It seems the problem with the sun became evident with their planned staging and they had to quickly redo it. And they aren't happy about it but moved on.
Switzerland follows with what seems a very similar staging: focus on him in a dark stage. Dressed in black. Purple. Seeing like this doesn't seem like a smart running order but who knows?
Slovenia rolls on stage the biggest prop we have seen so far this year - and maybe the biggest of this season or did Ebu hint something else? Hmmm.... The boys are smart in suits and the glitter ball looks good.
Ukraine has been in talks with Ebu about their staging and apparently several versions were declined before agreement came what is acceptable and suitable for Eurovision stage and not too political. This said the backdrop and stage is filled with yellow and blue and so it should be! And a sort of German flags - is that a hit for Germany to give Ukraine the support against those Russian war criminals or what?
The Netherlands apparently isnät happy with the sun either, and has been more loud and unhappy about their proposed staging, according some bad mouths. This said it seems to be another minimalist, intimate affair on stage - as it should be - and judging the photos I do get some Loreen vibes for some reason. Minus the beat. And the dancer. And the choreography. Am I mistaken or are there less dancers and all sort of gimmicks this year? Even pre-recorded backing vocals and choirs?
Moldova's gang had the drummer granny first time, unicycles and pointy hats the second time and this time.... neon lights?! Am I a bit disappointed? Yes.
