My flying reporter Robert managed to get hold on Pasha Parfeni from Moldova today who has become during this week pretty big favorite to do well. How did he end up in Eurovision, what his goals are and is his granny better than the ones from Buranovo? And will we get a cover album full of Eurovision later on? Find it out here:
Why do you want to participate in
Eurovision?
That's a very difficult question... I
want to be a star! A worldstar, ha ha! But I know it's not easy even
in Eurovision, only Celine Dion and ABBA have made it. But I can make
myself a bit more known, it's good for promotion. After Eurovision I
will finish my album and my promo-CD already has nine songs. We will
recod maybe 4-5 more and it will make a good album.
With what result will you be happy
here?
Happy? … Top-10! Then I'll be
absolutely happy!
So if you don't get to the final you
will be totally depressed?
Yes, maybe... Yes, it would be hard.
For me and my team.
What are your plans after Eurovision?
One week of relax! At my parent's house
in a small town.... or I could go to the seashore, beach.
Are you an established artist in
Moldova, do people know you there?
Yes...I have had a few hit songs, I've
been on TV many times. You can hear my songs on radio. Since
two-three years or so, people know me. But only in Moldova. I'm a
professional singer and it's my only profession.
I know Moldova and Romania are very
close. Do you also perform in Romania sometimes?
No, not so much. Mostly Moldova but I
had concert also in Baku for example, twice before.
Was it related to Eurovision?
No. Not at all.
Tell us about your song Lautar.
I'm the composer and the lyricist of
the song. I first got the melody and the lyrcis came later. It took
maybe a month before it was finished.
How was your victory in the national
final received by the media and people?
You know this was my third time in the
national selection. I came second last year with Dorule. Two years
ago I sung You should like. (I liked both btw. Ed.note) So it was about the time. Of course not
everybody was happy because there were 21 songs and a couple of teams
were not so happy.... But to repressent your country is a very big
responsability, especially if your country has such a folkloric tradition but my song has many elements of that.
Who are your examples in the music
scene?
Michael Jackson of course! He should be
everyone's number one.
Out of the other 41 songs this year,
which one could be part of your repertoire?
Ha ha ha... I usually sing my own
songs. With exceptions. This year there are many good songs. There
are maybe 12 songs I could do my own version of. With guitar. Maybe
after Eurovision I will do it....
I'd be interested to hear that! Who is
your biggest fan?
Of course my grandmother! She's very
important to me and she's my biggest fan. And I can tell you she can
sing better than Buranovskiye babushki!
Really? Maybe she should Eurovision
next year then! :-) Who from Moldova would you like to see do
Eurovision next year or in the future?
I think the song is more important than
the artist so I can't say before I hear the song. This is Eurovision
song contest, not the Eurovision artist contest!
That's true! Last question: Why should
people vote for Moldova and Lautar?
Because we will be best in vocal,
best in choreography and I hope we will be a success!
Thank you Pasha for the interview and
good luck next Thursday and see you in final!
