ESC 2011 DusselDay 7: Bulgaria, Macedonia and Israel

Another solid performance from Bulgaria.  There's nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. Poli is vocally strong. Looks like they have skipped the use of the catwalk and she does her stripping on main stage instead. Which might be a wise choice - we all remember Safura running like possessed back to stage last year.... and no, it didn't look fine. And I still have my doubts about Bulgaria's qualification chances....
FYR Macedonia also gave a polished performance. Vlatko is wearing a black jacket and his dancers are in white smili-traditional dresses with red belt  His voice is better today, not so nhusky and forced as before and the back screen is still looking fabulous. Still, it is very had for this to qualify even if it is FYR Macedonia. Yet, if it will shock the fans and do so I'm not so surprised after all!
Israel and Dana International is the last semifinalist to rehearse today before the Big5 take the stage for the very first time. She's apparently wearing her dress for the big night - or is she? She managed to change her outfit even when she won while the whole of Europe was waiting.... The staging ig the same and simple one but this time she tries the catwalk, too, with her high heels. May sound and look boring now but add thousends of screaming fans, flags waving and you get completely a new look at it... Should qualify, after all, unless Europeans have decided they have seen enough of her as the song is just nice, not outstanding. It is one of my favourites in all its silliness and easy melody and because it's Dana International....

PS. We haven't seen a lot of pyros and dry ice in the rehearsals as apparently every delegation has to pay for each and every use instead of the "all included rehearsals" there used to be before, if I have understood right from various sources. Therefor I think the semifinals and the final will be filled with fire, smoke and dry ice after all as many countries have tried them at some point of the rehearsals and propably just said that's fine, let's save it for the big night. I'm off to sunshine now and some partying myself in the garden but will be back tonight to comment on the Big5. Until then... have fun!

Nina Badrić for Croatia

Croatian TV went for internal selection in the end and chose Nina Badrić. She has been around for almost 20 years and has released ten albums between 1995 and 2011. She has also treid to get to Eurovision four times already without a win (1993, 1994, 1995 and 2003). She is popular also in the other ex-Yogoslavian countries so let those 12s run in.... Listen her here: Moje oci pune ljubavi , Dat ce nam Bog , Nebo and Mama . And lovely Carobno jutro .

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

UMK 2014: MIKKO POHJOLA - SÄNGYN REUNALLA LYRICS

Not quite often song lyrics cause strong reactions, especially in Eurovision. Mikko Pohjola's Sängyn reunalla , a story about unfaithful people and feelings it causes in the people involved is however one. Many of you non Finnish speakers have wondered what it really says after the UMK judge Toni Wirtanen said he was feeling uncomfortable and would like walk to the stage and kick Mikko's ass adding he surely wouldn't like to be the man who's footprints depressions are in the bedroom carpet...  Here are the lyrics liberally translated by yours truly. What do you think?

Lordi is currently touring Europe with their #Sexorcism tour and is treating fans in merchandize stand with limited editions of various items. Tonight Lordi plays Heidelberg (Germany) and the tour continues to Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and back to Germany, then Switzerland, Italy, Russia and finally Finland on December 28 at legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki. They already did Austria, UK, France, Spain and Belgium.

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam...
