Ok, I did this already. Portugal deserves the privilege of being the first (here) and the last review of the season. I did them all with the studio versions but now let's see how things have developed since when on stage and live. Of my favorites they all made it except Blacci (but quite frankly she wasn't that greta live) and of those I didn't really care for Pepperoni Passion and Pongo e Tristany made it, also Diana Castro.
But now let's forget all that what I said the first time around and judge again based on the live performances in the semi-finals.
Pongo & Tristany – Dégrá.dê *
I was quite harsh in the first hearing and I still dislike this with passion. This is noise, nothing else. Should Portugal send this they're nuts. Certain bit of fandom likes this sort of a thing but juries and televoters will award this a flat zero.
Syro – Ainda Nos Temos ****
I still think he's no Diogo Piçarra but as I can't have Diogo Syro will do. Who's idea it was to put him out second??! I'm not totally convinced about the staging and live performance though after all.
Milhanas – Corpo de Mulher ****
Very nice live I must say. But her dress was one of those distractions you just wait to come off at some point and it didn't and you keep wondering why? What was the point of it?
Inês Homem de Melo – Fome de Viagem ***
Ok, that was entertaining nursery rhyme meets Sound of Music or similar musical number to see and hear maybe twice but that's it. Next!
Aurea – Why? **
I still don't feel this. I wish it was in Portuguese, even partly and it would be s much more original and interesting. Now it's just a better version of any random Baltic national final song. And that's not a compliment in my books.
Os Quatro E Meia – Amanhã ****
There's something very soothing about this one. Old fashioned yes, but also very warm and safe, like a big hug. ..
FF – Bom Esperar Alguém ****
Exactly the same could be said about this one as above. With a slight preference to this one. So beautiful and traditional and heart warming. Both songs could be from any decade of Eurovision, just like Amor pelos dois was.
Diana Castro – Ginger Ale **
No, I still don't get this. Somewhat irritating but not in a good way, just in a boring way.
Maro – saudade, saudade *****
I just fell in love with this one a bit more. Great atmosphere and nice vocals, mix of Portuguese and English, done the right way. What's there not to love? I think this is by far my favorite now along with Syro. As for Turin this might be a better choice in the end?
Pepperoni Passion – Código 30 *
Ok, we started with crasp and finish with crap. That's all I can say.
