Today in occasion to present Sanremo 2011 to the media RAI also made public their plans for Eurovision. First of all Eurovision song contest will be broadcasted in Italy on Rai2 and the semifinal on Rai5. Marco Simeon, the director of international affair in RAI told: "I was very surprised when during my visit to Geneve I saw what Eurovision song contest in terms of technology and numbers has become. I proposed it to the bosses in RAI and they got interested and we decided to marry it with Sanremo. Eurovision was losing its interest over the years and therefor we didn't follow it anymore. Now it has become also a competition between the TV stations and therefor we are there as RAI. With one condition: to be able to adapt it to our needs and fit into our formula. We take the signal from Dusseldorf and adopt it to our own programme from Casinó di Sanremo." (I wonder what that means? Talk show in studio with only occasionally showing what's going on in stage in Dusseldorf á la Italien? Oh dear...)
"The Italian represant will be chosen amongst all the singers in Sanremo 2011. It could be a Big or a Newcomer. We will announce the name on Saturday night just before the winner of the festival will be announced. The selecting jury is: Gianni Morandi (Sanremo 2011 presenter), Gianmarco Mazzi (Artictic director of Sanremo 2011), Mauro Mazza (RaiUno director), Massimo Liofredi (RaiDue director), Marco Simeon (director of RAI's international affairs), Maurizio Zoccorato (mayor of Sanremo) and Giorgio Giuffra (from Sanremo promotion)." So, it's all male cast with the word....
