We have heard the past few days the proposal by Scissor Sisters to represent the United Kingdom in Eurovision 2013. Time will tell if that will happen. But it's not the first time BBC would turn down a big name that is willing and ready to do the honors. Eurofestival writes today that in 2003 Radiohead sent some songs to BBC that didn't make their UK and US #1 album Kid A album. Thom Yorke tells they were ready to do it and had discussed it with their record company. BBC didn't take them seriously and sent James Fox instead, 16th.
The same happened again in 2007 when Morrissey was interested to represent them in Helsinki. BBC once again thought he was just joking and din't even contact him and sent Scooch instead. 22nd place with 19 points.
Maybe it's time to take things seriously and really ask those who come forward saying they would do it and not just take as a joke?
