The Russian grannies Buranovskiye Babushki are the worldwide hit on internet, espcially in Youtube at the moment. It didn't take long before their video was seen my over one million viewers and their story makes the both the papers and the TV news and shows as well all over the world. The grannies are Natalia Pugachova (76), Ekaterina Shklyaeva (74), Valentina Pyatchenko
(74), Galina Koneva (73), Granya Baysarova (62) and the leader and spokesgranny Olga Tuktaryova (43) and they come from Buranovo village (population: 658!) in Udmurtia aka Udmurt republic in Russia. Udmurtia has a bit over 1,5 million inhabitants and is located over the river Volga, in Ural mountains. The very places the Finno-Ugric people originate (according the legends) and later travelled to Finland, Estonia and Hungary for example. The language belongs to the group of Komi-Permiyal languages, a part of the Finno-Ugric languages. And Party for everybody is sung in that very language with the chorus in English. A first for Eurovision!
Usually the grannies perform in eight but as Eurovision has a limit of six on stage two reserves will be standing by.... And here's their effort in the Russian final two years ago.
