Carlo Conti has revealed he listened 280 Big songs, meaning 250 songs didn't make the cut even if a total of 30 songs instead of 24 were chosen. As for the Newcomers 336 songs were submitted for AreaSanremo and 564 for Sanremo Giovani, that's a total of 1.180 songs.
But now as the names are out the betting has also started and in various betting sites the odds seem to be the same for the Top-4 as Elodie, Giorgia, Achille Lauro and Olly in different order, followed by Noemi, Irama and Francesco Gabbani. I personally would love to see Giorgia finally at Eurovision - even if apparently she'd be more likely to say "No, grazie"- or Elodie.
Some authors of the songs have been revealed. Mahmood and Blanco are behind Noemi's song, and Blanco is also a coauthor for Irama and Giorgia. Tiziano Ferro has written for Massimo Ranieri.
Giorgia comes from a very successful year as X Factor presenter. She has released 11 studio albums and is considered one of the best vocalist in Italy and globally as well. She won Sanremo 1995 with Come saprei but sadly missed Eurovision as Rai didn't participate, placed 3rd the year after with Strano il mio destino. She was back in 2001 with Di sole e d'azzurro placing 2nd. She finally returned in 2023 with Parole dette male, placing 6th. However her first time was in Newcomers in 1994 with E poi. She placed only 7th but the song is such an evergreen most people think she actually won it. My favorites of her are Quando muore una stella, Il mio giorno migliore, è l'amore che conta and C'e da fare.
Achille Lauro returns after having had one of the biggest hits of 2024, Amore disperato and the 2023 megahit Fragole that followed his not so fortunate Eurovision song contest 2022 for San Marino. He has released six studio albums. He has written books, has had art exhibitions. He's also director, producer, dubber and actor. And X Factor judge the last season. And of course his Sanremo presence is long: 2019 with Rolls Royce, 2020 Me ne frego, 2021 he was providing an interval act on each and every night of the festival, My favorite however remain Bam bam twist.
Elodie was the runner up of Amici 15 and there after debuted in Sanremo 2017 with Tutta colpa mia. She returns 2020 with Andromeda and again 2023 with Due. Four albums to date and a string of hits and performances that have made her also an Eurovision fan favorite. Other favorites are Black Nirvana, Nero Bali, Vertigine, Tribale and OK respira.
Olly, or Federico Olivieri, made himself a name onlne releasing his songs and a cover of (and with) Arisa of her Sanremo runner up La notte helped him to get signed. In 2022 he has opening act for Blanco's concerts and got to Sanremo Giovani placing second with L'anima balla and got a ticket to Teatro Ariston in 2023 with Polvere. Since then his fame has just grown with sold out tournee and various collaborations, including Angelina Mango with Per due come noi.
