The German part of Switzerland has closed its selection for the Eurovision 2013 and they received a total of 175 songs, down from last year's 221 even if the deadline was extended by a week. This blogger would also add that the quality of the songs is down, as the goodies are far and afar but then I haven't yet listened all of them so maybe there's still a song or two that can save the day and give us at least a half a dozen decent ones to enjoy....
The songs are now checked by the broadcaster and will go on for an online vote next week. Four songs will be selected out of these, and both the Italian and French broadcaster will add two more songs to the December 15, 2012 final.
Anyways, among here you have several familiar names: Eurovision 1956 winner Lys Assia is back, so is Mariella Farré from 1983 and 1985. Then we have last year's Chiara Dubey and then the Polish entrant 2011 Magdalena Tul and the Swedish Man Meadow who's been twice to the Polish finals. And from the Netherlands LA The Voices, from Germany Leo Ritzmann. And from Spain Virginia Trujillo and Melissa Lopez, from Finland Anna-Kaisa and Max and the Ducks trying it out again. And local Scilla... just to name a few. And so far the most discussed one, the Salvation Army!
