Ofra Haza died of AIDS related multiple organ collapse on February 23, 2000. She was only 42 years old and her career had only showed the beginning of a very succesful international success. Being a megastar at home she represanted Israel in Eurovision 1983 and gained second place before Sweden's Carola and Yogoslavia's Daniel, two other strong contenders. She is best remembered for Im nin'alu, and countless remixes and samples from it, including Erik B. Rakim's Coldcut remix and collaborations with many other artists, including Paula Abdul. She also got into Disney soundtracks. Ofra had an incredible voice and presence and her premature death a real loss for everyone who loves music.
