It's three weeks to the main event and some more information on the opening acts of the semifinals and the grand final has been revealed today. It seems it's going to be a real cocktail of local and foreign music and artists. Some names involved in the preparations are Alim Gasimov, a mugham legend, mugham being a local form of folk music also recognized by Unesco when it added it in 2003 to the Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Also local flavor will be given by Emin Agalarov. Or maybe not so local his style being nothing but Azeri like his latest Baby get higher. Then we will have Natiq rhythm band and Azerbaijan National Dance Ensemble.
Also, local and foreign dance groups and DJs, a music band made of Eurovision Song Contest stars (!!!), participants of previous contests as well as other popular local and
foreign singers will perform during the semifinals'
interval acts. And this seems to be the part where Dima Bilan steps in, as he has announced previously he will perform in Baku 2012 Eurovision. As such it sounds pretty promising, yet there is a danger it all comes across a bit chaotic if there are many singers doing medleys.... or something. We will see. They sure have material where to find inspiration, both local and foreign. Will it be something like this?
