The first day of rehearsals is over and what can we say so far?
All artists did a decent job on stage vocally and apparently there were no major technical issues either. Time will tell if some delegations will change anything; lightning, backdrop or something else. Some gave already hints of their performance dresses, like Iceland and Finland.
The most convincing vocally was my a mile Rona Nishliu from Albania, but also Finland's Pernilla, Belgium's Iris and Romanian Elena proved wrong those thought they may not be good enough live. Unfortunately we can't say the same of the Greek artist who sounded a bit shaky.
Switzerland was also a positive experience today in every way and we already knew the Icelandic duo and Latvian Anmary could sing. As for extra stuff on stage there isn't much to write home, except the Montenegrin donkey. I'm sure there will be some pyros added here and there, too, and Switzerland already did today.
My flying reporter Robert has been out and about the Crystal Hall area and you can see some unfinished business here. He also met Roy Van Der Merwe from South Africa and his favorite Anmary (here). Robert also interviewed Anmary and talked to Jónsi and Rambo Amadeus among other people. If only cyberspace will co-operate I will share those gems with you! (Update: Anmary is here.)
I morgon är en annan dag, as Christer Björkman would put it and we will have Israel, San Marino, Cyprus, Denmark, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Moldova and Ireland on the stage for the first time. Stay tuned (or Stay soul as Nina Zilli would say it!) Good night!
