Finland decided next Saturday in a live national final in Barona Arena, Espoo. But who's going to win? The race might be more open that it seems at first glance...
Who do the UMK 2013 finalists think are their worst enemies in the final?
Who do the UMK 2013 finalists think are their worst enemies in the final?
Elina Orkoneva thinks the other ladies (Diandra and Krista Siegfrids) while Great Wide North, ever so polite and positive think themselves because "they always want to be better than their last performance". Diandra likes the songs of Krista and Mikael Saari personally and would vote for either of them. Lucy Was Driving thinks every act is their worst enemy but most of all Last Panda, the closest to their genre. And the Pandas are afraid of Mikael. Krista thinks Diandra's huge fanbase can make her way to Malmö 2013 a bit more difficult. Arion names Mikael without hesitation and Mikael himself thinks the ladies will take the trophy this year.
So, summa summarum the artists themselves seem to think like the fans and the media: it's between Mikael Saari, Diandra Flores and Krista Siegfrids. No one mentioned Arion though.... Hmm... And the judges gave Great Wide North maximum points 4x10....
This blogger thinks the wide TV audience might back Mikael Saari, while the Swedish speaking population (that was watching also last year when Finnish speaking population wasn't and crowned Pernilla as the winner) seems to be behind Krista. This year UMK has got a lot more visibility in the media and people are aware of it so I believe the ratings are back up* from last year's record low. And the "Swedish mafia" will lose some of its power. I think Diandra may lose in this battle despite her fanbase, and Arion's fans might not be watching on Saturday night. And if Great Wide North hasn't yet convinced the televoters they may have lost the battle unless the religious miracle will happen and all true believers will turn up and vote, which I doubt.
I guess all depend on how the jury will vote this round. (Or are they voting at all? ) Will they still back Great Wide North and Arion? Will Krista, Diandra and Mikael live up to their expectations and make them vote them, too? It's still all open.... and that's quite refreshing! :-)
*not really. I just checked the ratings. The first two weeks didn't make the top-20 most watched programmes on YLE2 but they are going up: week 3 UMK was 19th with 226.000 viewers and last week 14th with 242.000. That is still a far cry from the good old Euroviisut half a million for semis and over over/around a million for the final. Let's see if the UMK 2013 final at least will be watched!
