It's time to kick of the usual reviews. The opinions are all mine and if I don't like some song it's simply just not my cup of tea so to speak. If I like something you dislike or hate, it's fine, too. No stresso, no need to be depresso it's just music and tastes that re diverse and therefor beautiful! I also try to predict their success come May a little bit but as we know once the staging is out everything may change, remember Fuego and Rise like a phoenix for example?
For this series I have grouped the songs in fours as usual as the songs may have similarities or something in common. Some fours came out beautifully, the others.... well not so well. Here comes the sixth part!
SWITZERLAND -Zoë Më - Voyage
This is one of those songs that haven't yet quite clicked with me. I have a feeling I should like this a lot more than I do right now. It's in theory just my cup of tea but something... I don't know. I get some Carla Bruni vibes (that are positive) but... No. I don't know. I suppose this will get a lot of love from the juries but flop somewhat with the viewers and finish somewhere between 11th-15th at most.
SLOVENIA - Klemen - How much time do we have left
I admit I was expecting a funny act from him but then he came with this one and I admit I was rather touched the first time I heard this. And I still do like this one, it's beautiful and sincere even if I wish the lyrics were a bit less realistic and a bit more poetic and mysterious not telling the story as it is. But then again that's maybe the slap in your face truth. I am hoping a Q just to annoy the fandom but maybe this is in the end just a very slim borderline Q but if takes the final slot from Belgium I'd be very, very happy!
ISRAEL - Yuval Raphael - New day will rise
I really like her voice and the song is beautiful and the mix of languages works nicely but then again is it necessary? Maybe I would have dropped the French bit and just made a full French version instead. Hebrew always adds so I am happy for that part. Compared to last year Hurricane was maybe better as song in the end, more original. This remains a bit bland. But Israel is most likely heading for another Top-5 result or is it only Top-10 this time?
GEORGIA - Mariam Shengelia - Freedom
This is more of a musical number that echoes a bit Georgia's entry in Helsinki 2007 (without the beats), Georgian language is exotic and nice touch but in the end what is left when the song is over? How was it? What do I remember? Nothing much. Her elegant dress and pretty face. Georgia in final would be a miracle.
