The rehearsals started on stage in Liverpool arena for the Eurovision song contest 2023 four days ago and today we got to "see" the Big5 and Ukraine's first 30 minutes rehearsal. As Ebu once again is using TikTok for the short tiny rehearsal clips I'm not going to care much of them. But here is a collection of photos and impressions and observations by your truly of the closed doors happenings. Mind you, I'm all in favor for this closed door policy: the delegations must have a little bit privacy and peace and quiet to polish their acts before they are given to the sharks aka fandom eager to criticize every tiny detail. And also I kinda like the idea we are given as little as possible to watch before the shows so there will be surprises and wow effect - if you have seen it all beforehand where's the fun? The first rehearsal is 30 minutes for each meaning 3-4 run through. After that the delegation gathers to a viewing room and changes are discussed and made for the next rehearsal with the local team. Ok, let's go again!

Marco Mengoni took the stage in sparkly silvery top and black leather pants. Let's see what he will be wearing on the Big Nights as he said somewhere he will be wearing different outfit every occasion, just like in Sanremo. All outfit s are by Versace, some vintage, some new I suppose. He's got white lights, huge moon in the backdrop and dancers by the moon, both male apparently dancing in the smoke. Beautiful and suggestive with Marco's strong effortless vocals. He is the biggest star in the contest this year and he knows it so he can just take it easy and enjoy the ride. Unlike in 2013.
Isn't it wonderful how strangely all Big5 + Ukraine this year are so strong, so different and somehow so representative to the country they represent? Except Ukraine of course who takes a step away from etnofolk sounds to r'n'b. Tvorchi's performance was great in the national selection and here it seems pretty much the same with two backing dancers, those screens and even better version of the song that I must admit didn't care much for at first but now, it's a good one! Another fine vocalist, too
Amazing looking backdrops for Mae, it seems. This will end the final with a bang. Sassy and fun this pop number will surely keep up UK's newfound success rate. She wrote a song, someone staged it and we all are happy!
