My flying reporter Robert had a morning chat with the Broggini brothers Ivan and Gabriel aka Sinplus. What have they been up to since winning the ticket to Baku 2012 five months ago? Whose song could they cover? What is their parents favorite band? And what their aim is? And why don't they sing in Italian? Find it all out here:
Why are you interested in participating
in the Eurovision?
There isn't much of a chance for a
young rockband to get noticed so we decided to participate and
everything's going well! And now that we are here, Eurovision can
help us also to cross the borders, Switzerland is such a small
market.
And if you don't qualify for instance,
will it hard your career?
We just signed with Warner to release
our album in Europe after we won the Swiss selection, some 100
million people will see us now here, so no. Eurovision is a good
start for this band. Of course it's important to reach the final but
it's already good to be here.
When did you form this band? You are
brothers...
We started playing together almost ten
years ago and almost five years we have been focusing on Sinplus.
You were selected already back in
December 2011. Has the wait been long to come here?
No, the time is never enough! Ha ha! We
have been working hard so the time has gone fast. But finally we are
here, we're happy! We have had the chance to tour Europe for
promotion and as musicians it has been a great experience. It was a
good practise first of all, helped us to improve our act. And our
English, ha ha! All those interviews and TV-shows, we have all kind
of situations! So now here it's much easier. We have also finished
our album that will be released tomorrow btw, we shot a video clip
and also wrote a couple of new songs to the album.
What has been the most memorable promo
activity you have done this spring?
Belarus was amazing! There were like
4000 people in the arena screaming, the stage was huge. It was really
cool! It was good exercise, too, like a small Eurovision. Also
Amsterdam was amazing, all those people singing along to our song!
I was there! How would you describe
your style of music?
It's kinda pop-rock. Rock. Melodic, not
too hard.
Who are your musical heroes or idols?
There are many but the most important
is U2. Our parents are also big fans of them. Also some new bands
like 30 Seconds to Mars, Muse, Killers...
Why didn't you sing this song in
Italian, your mother tongue?
We want to bring our message to wider
audience. We tried to do rock in Italian but Italian is for love
songs! Ha ha ha!
So when one day you will be singing
love song it'll be in Italian?
Yeah! Ha ha ha!
What are your plans after Eurovision?
We will do a lot of gigs in Switzerland
and with Warner we are working on some gigs in Europe as well. But
for that we have to wait for the results to know what we ae going to
do. We will also go back to studio to record another album. We write
all our songs. That's what we like, play live and write songs.
With what result will you be satisfied?
First step is to reach the final. It's
the most important thing. Not only for us but for the Swiss, too. DJ
Bobo, Paolo Meneguzzi and so on they all failed, we want to bring
Switzerland back to the final. And then do better than Anna
Rossinelli last year. :-)
Out of these 41 songs here, which one
you could include in your repertoire?
Oh, first time someone asks that. I
thought you'd ask what is our favourite! Maybe Hungary, it's a bit
our kind of music, and close to our taste.
Last question, why should people vote
for you?
We're musicians, we wrote our song and
we perform it. We are ourselves and real. I hope people will
appreciate that and vote for us!
Thank you for this interview and good
luck next Tuesday. See you in final!
