Also the Greek represent and Eurovision fan Eleftheria Eleftheriou fall to victim of my flying reporter Robert's questions. All between her song and the Greek economy. Here:
You have tried to get to Eurovision already a couple of times before. Why is Eurovision so important to you?
Actually I tried in Greece in 2010 (And in Cyprus 2006, Ed.note) but my song leaked to internet too early and I was disqualified. Everything happens for a reason. I signed a contract with Universal Music Greece one month before they were put in charge to take care of the national selection. Then they told me they have this project and asked if I want to do and I was like Are you kidding me? Of course! And here I am!
But what does Eurovision mean to you personally? Do you follow it?
Actually I'm a fan of Eurovision! I've been watching it since I was a young girl, since I can remember actually and I can't believe I'm part of it now. It's a dream come true!
And is it important in Greece?
It is! We watch it, we love Eurovision! We want to send good songs and we love Eurovision!
Who of the previous Greek entrants are your idols or examples?
Many... Anna Vissi, Sakis Rouvas, Elena Paparizou, Elbida... many!
Do you also know them personally?
Yes I do :-) We are artists, an industry. It's a small world, we know each other.
Now that you are here, with what result will you be happy?
I don't want to be a part of a competition. I rather say this is a music festival. Every year we have songs from different countries, it's for fun. I'd love to have a good performance. I want to be able to love my performance. To be able to put a smile on people's faces. That's my goal. I don't know about the result, this is Eurovision! You never know what is going to happen. I just want to enjoy it and make Greece proud of me.
And what are your plans after Eurovision?
I will release a new single and record an album. I'm very excited because my music career really starts here. I have been in the industry already some time but this is the big step forward. And I hope it will go better than the Greek market, ha ha!
Which of the other 41 songs is one that could be part of your repertoire?
...Euphoria from Sweden is one... I also like Moldova, and Romania.... there are many good songs.... I don't know! This is a difficult question....
Lately the news from Greece have been related to economy. Has the crisis effected you personally?
First of all many other countries in Europe have economical problems and still they are here, like Greece. I think here we talk through the music. Music is entertaining. Most important thing is this: Have fun! And forget all the other things these days here. Put a smile on people's faces!
Ok, thank you for the interview and good luck next Tuesday. See you in final!
