EUROVISION 2026: REHEARSALS KICK OF - WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT STAGINGS SO FAR?

Saturday May 2, 2026. The start of the rehearsals for Eurovision song contest 2026 in Vienna after building the stage and having the stand in rehearsals the past week after weeks and months of planning and rehearsing the staging, lights, choreography and special effects and creative ideas by the artists and their teams at home while Vienna team has been programming and putting everything on computers second by second as so it is these days. If back in the day the nervous bit was could the local orchestra play the song the way wanted now it is Can they handle the visuals the way the team has planned? Times change. As usual there are several teams or people doing the creative work for various teams and behind the stagings there are many already very familiar names. Let's have a look.

Black Skull Creative, a British show-making company is behind several acts this year.
Albania is among them and there won't be the signature red color this year for Albania but a prop and subtitles. And visually stunning.
They will also do Australia with a staging that apparently has caused quite a many problems for the production team for its demands with such a visual feats you just don't want to blink and lose a second of it.
Austria is also on their team and the masked creatures will remain with more props and the performance we saw in national final elevated in every possible way.
They also do Malta and Aidan's stylist is Tom Eerebout (CV includes Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora etc). Their performance seems to be the most stunning if they nail it, if they don't a high risk.   Black Skull creative will also do Montenegro's camera work and lighting while the staging otherwise will remain more or less the same with dancers.
They will also do San Marino that will have a big prop and big reveal as Boy George appears.

Fredrik Rydman (he has staged already two winners among others, (Heroes and The Code along with Cha cha cha, Jezebel, No rules and Maman) and Sacha Jean Baptiste (been doing Eurovision since 2011 incl. Fuego, Tout l'universe and the winner Tattoo) are doing Bulgaria this year , said to be the most epilectic entry this year. Easy to believe.
Sasha does also Cyprus. Antigoni will have four dancers (Anna Chatzikyriakou, Konstantina Spyrou, Natalia Michael and Sophia Papakonstantinou). Her dress is designed by NatarGeorgiou. Apparently the yellow car is there?
She also does Sweden. No major changes in sight there from national final performance.
Fredrik will do also Switzerland

Belgium will have four dancers Max Lukaina, Axel Remezo, Julien Maniquet and Tom Van de Weghe choreographed by Elena Gambardella.
Croatia is choreographed by Jasmin Cvišić, who already did Konstrakta in 2022 for Serbia.
Czechia is done by Ruy Okamura. He's responsible for the staging, the video, photos, communication - the whole act. His previous CV includes the music videos for Lights off, Who the hell is Edgar, The Code and Voyage. Apparently this is black and white just like Austria last year?
Georgia will be choreographed by Sagiv Kapel who did also Firefighter in 2024.
Greece will be staged by Fokas Evangelinos who has done already 20 since Shake it in 2004 to Asteromáta last year. There will be Parthena Chorozidou, Michalis Michailidis, Christos Nikolaou, and Konstantinos Karypidis on stage with Akylas.
Italy will be choreographed by Marcello Sacchetta whose CV includes names like Justin Bieber, Will.I.Am, Pharrel Williams and David Guetta. This Napoletan dancer came up with the hand gestures and the music video for Per sempre si. Apparently there will be dancers and a wedding theme.
Lithuania's performance will be most technically complex in their Eurovision history including a costume-like sculpture.
Poland will have four dancers with new choreography by Adam Beta and a new prop on stage.
Romania will be staged by former Czech head of delegation Jan Bors and will be cinematic and fast. .
United Kingdom will have his newly built synthesizers and most props of the year on stage and an element of risk on stage, whatever that means!

Staying more or less the same as national final but updated and elevated for the Eurovision stage with minor changes are Denmark (more pyros, adjusted outfit, same box brought in but updated), Finland (new outfits, new smaller confession booth due to narrower catwalk), Latvia (new dress), Luxemburg, Moldova (new outfits and new visuals in the backdrop), Portugal, Serbia (minor changes but amplified to maximum)

Ukraine will have a new staging concept.

No details as yet for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, France ("very theatrical"), Germany, Israel, Norway.

So, not sign yet that the UMK team Reija Wäre, Sergio Jaen, Ari Levelä and Matti Myllyaho would be involved in any other countries staging like last year for example being part of the winning Austrian entry.....

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

EUROVISION 2026: THE SEMI-FINAL ONE PREDICTION

Here we go again. Every year the prediction of the qualifiers is getting more difficult, this year there's the added re-introduction of the juries in the semi-final and of course the voting pro and against Israel. Also the contest has moved a bit south-east with those comebacks and those who stayed home in west. But here goes judged by the own impressions and the few comments I have read online by those who have seen the rehearsals and not only the 30 seconds video clip and three photos. Update after show with colors: Tbh I never quite believed in Estonia but thought for some reason it might do it after all, Portugal I was hoping for a miracle that never materialized, I'm sure they came 11th :-) I put Montenegro in Maybe category but really it should have been in Most likely out as I never believed one minute it will qualify. I still don't get Lithuania and I'm surprised it did qualify, it will be curious to see if it's all juries work or did people really like it. ...

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam...

FINLAND: REMEMBERING KIRKA

Rumors, rumors, rumors....

While the national selections for Junior Eurovision are going on around Europe and Ani Lorak's been confirmed as host all sort of rumors about the real thing are beginning to be the order of the day. Austria returns - or then not. Andorra stays home - or then not. San Marino returns - well, most likely but not surely. Luxembourg should make a come back - or then maybe not. Liechtenstein is still in the running - or has it ever been for real? Has the local TV ever confirmed anything? Is it just wishful thinking by the fans? Poland on the other hand has confirmed they will be in Oslo. And Italy will be still out. And apparently there will be no ban or such for Azerbaijan nor Spain for the irregularities in and after the 2009 edition. EBU had to change the text in the rules to make it sure nothing like that what happened in Azerbaijan could happen again. Or if it will they have means and rules to back up a ban or sanction.... Katerina Avgoustakis has been rumored to be in Oslo...

UK: Naked Blue

The boys of Blue have posed nude again. This time for the Attitude magazine's annual Naked issue and they are also in the cover. Watch the video of the shooting here . Band member Duncan, who is bi-sexual, recently told The Daily Star : “We are getting our kit off for Attitude magazine like the McFly boys did. I’m up for showing everything off. I’m happy enough about the size of my manhood. ” Extra media attention won't hurt their changes in Germany to win it for the UK for the first time since 1997... They will and they can!

CZECH REPUBLIC: MARTINA BÁRTA PRESENTS MY TURN

Czech Republic's internally chosen Martina Bárta has released her entry My turn for the Eurovision as well today. Not sure if I managed to keep my attention level very high for very long when listening to it.... Shame.
