ORF and EBU have revealed the opening and interval acts for the three shows coming from Vienna 2026 Eurovision song contest and as a Finn one can only be pleased as there are (following Käärijä's two year stunt) again Finns as among the announced acts are Eurovision 2006 winners Lordi and last year's Erika Vikman performing along with other Eurovision royalty like Verka Serduchka from Ukraine, Il Volo from Italy, Go-Jo from Australia and Cesar Sampson and reigning champion JJ from Austria.
Here's what we know and has been announced:
First semi-final will be opened by 70 member choir performing L'amour è bleu, a song from Vienna 1967 Eurovision that Vicky Leandros sung for Luxemburg and later became a real evergreen and a classic even though it placed only 4th. After all these decades she's back to sing it again!
The interval act will feature fun by Austria/Australia by the presenters Victoris Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski joined by Aussie Go-Jo.
The second semi-final will be opened Victoria and Michael performing last year's winning song Wasted love "in self-deprecating" way, whatever that means. Probably something cringe. JJ won't be involved but he will provide the interval act with his new song.
The final will be opened by the flag parade while JJ is belting out The Queen of the Night named number with Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, dancers and acrobats.
The interval acts will feature before mentioned Lordi, Erika, Il Volo and Verka plus other Eurovisio veterans Alexander Rybak, Ruslana, Kristian Kostov, Max Mutzke and Miriana Conte. performing new versions of Eurovision entries to celebrate Eurovision's 70th birthday. Sounds like they are doing their own entries but I hope it's a bit more entertaining if they do some other songs instead! After all Erika has already dueted with both Go-Jo and JJ.
Austrian musician, DJ and electro swing pioneer Parov Stelar will perform as well and finally Cesar Sampson will perform Billy Joel's Vienna.
