San Marino debuts this year in the Eurovision song contest. Many think they're just vice Italy and expected some Italian artist to sing for them. Instead they trust proudly on local group Miodio to represant the Serenissima Repubblica di San Marino in Belgrade. San Marino is the world's oldest state and was founded on September 3, 301. It's constitution is written in 1600. It is world's second smallest state since 1968 when Nauru gained independence. In 2008 despite the absence os Italy the italian language is stronger than for ages in Eurovision. Besides San Marino also Switzerland sings in Italian and the Romanian entry is sung in Romanian-Italian.
Miodio was born in 2002. They released their first EP in 2006 and in 2007 they landed a major record deal and released their first single "It's ok". They also toured with Italian megastar Renato Zero, won San Marino Festival and won the best original song award in Bologna festival. They have finished recording their first album to be released shortly after Eurovision.
Nicola Della Valle (26) is the vocalist of the group and the poppy guy: he likes Madonna, Robbie Williams, Brtiney and Justin just to name a few. He names Azerbaijan as his favourite entry this year but has a weakness for Charlotte Perrelli, too... Nicola has a "Complice" in his life so he's not single...
Sanchez, surname Sancisi, first name unknown. Goes also by names Sancho and Maestro (30) is the keyboard wizard and programmer of the band. He's a fan of Bono but dreams of nights with Charlotte Perrelli and Morena. His future goal is to compose a soundtrack to "A night with Charlotte Perrelli".... Charlotte (and Morena) be warned!
The drummer Alex Cena, also known as Cenacolo - Jhonny is 24. He's single and self admits of being obsessed with sex. His favourite in Belgrade is Latvia!
Paolo Macina (34). known also as Paul Macinevic plays guitar and like the Cure. He is still so taken of last year's Moldovan entrant Natalia Barbu that he can't name his favourite this year! He dreams of a full European tour....
Polly (31) is the bassplayer. His favourite musician is Roger Waters and his favourite in Belgrade is Spain! His favourite waste of time is having sex...
