Last night's fourth night was a..... yes, you guessed it, a record breaking fourth night. With a share of 60,5%!!! and nearly 11,4 million viewers it is the most watched since 1995, and only third time the magic 60% has been broken. Streaming on RaiPlay has grown 90% (well, that's what you get when you lift the geoblock!), 7,4 million contacts on social medias and 4,4 million plays on demand. But let's leave all those figures behind and concentrate on tonight's final and a few comments on last night's karaoke night.
As much as I am not a fan of that covers night last night it was rather enjoyable. Some covers were far from good, some were nice, some were prettygood. The most talked one was of course Gianni Morandi enrolling Jovanotti next to him to belt out their biggest hits. Or not quite as they started of with Morandi's Euroviison entru Occhi di ragazza, not exactly a major hit for him. The controversies aside if that was fair or not as Jovanotti is a megastar to his own credit but they ended up winning the night pushing Morandi into overall Top-3 and a possible winner. Mahmood and Blanco were second and Elisa third cementing that trio as the most likely final top-3 unless likes of Irama and Sangiovanni manage to motivate all their fans to vote tonight. The insane factor in all this is in my opinion that this karaoke attributes to the final score making Sanremo a bit of The Voice or X Factor like when it should be only about the competing songs!
Tonight all 25 will perform again and are voted only by televote so prepare for rise in the ranking for certain Iramas, SanGiovannis, Aka7evens and Rkomis just to name a few. But as Mahmood & Blanco and Elisa have been reigning the show since the start their place in the Top-3 should be already a mathematic certainty. Who will join them between Morandi, Irama or Sangiovanni or a major surprise someone else will change matters in the super final with the Top-3. Thank heavens there press jury, demoscopic jury and televote decide in three way split rather than only televote.
I'm pretty sure Mahmood and Blanco are willing to do Eurovision (despite having a string of concerts booked in early May) and so does Elisa who missed her chance back in 2001 and enjoyed some fame and success abroad already then. She has a new 2-album coming out with songs both in Italian and in English and is surely ready to try the international career again. Morandi as a good sport might just pass as he's been there already decades ago. Or so I hope.
Tonight Amadeus will have next to him a wonderful actress Sabrina Ferilli. Marco Mengoni will be there as well as a tribute number to late Raffaella Carrà, and Orietta and Rovazzi have landed from the love boat to Teatro Ariston.
