After three heats and two semi-final also Lithuanian national final Pabandom iš naujo! 2022 has arrived to its final. Along the way we lost one by one all the Eurovision veterans but Ieva Zasimauskaité. In the final there will be the same jury/televote voting 50/50.
Monika Liu has scored a full pot in both her heat and the semi-final she was in, can she keep it up? My favorites are Ieva and Auguste, and Lolita's win would be hilarious. After a lot of crap they pulled together rather good selection for the final with several songs that would be worthy winners and competing with Estonia for the best national final this season, as Supernova is totally tasteless.
Auguste Vedrickaitè - Before you're 6 ft under ****
She's convincing and in-your-face like Maruv was, the song's an American 80's country pop with hint of hard rock. Pretty good really! Or rather she makes the song and she's The Thing that sells it.
Gebrasy - Into your arms ***
The chorus sounds like an intro to some Pet Shop Boys remix. Sadly this doesn't develop into something else and more interesting. Pleasant and some what beautiful but that's all there is.
Ieva Zasimauskaité - I'll be there ****
I warmed very slowly her previous effort and in the end it was one of the highlights of the season. This doesn't feel that this could repeat the situation. Yet, but who knows? I have doubts, even if I like this.
A lot. Am I warming up already after all?
Justé Kraijelyté - How to get my life back ***
Very intriguing start but then ... I don't know. Feels a bit manufactured to be really something to like.
Lolita Zero - Not your mother ****
Why am I thinking Pet Shop Boys again and 80's Spanish gay scene? I'm not sure if I care to listen to this but I kinda enjoyed watching this at least for one time. Maybe two. Not sure about the third time....
Monika Liu - Sentimental ***
I wonder how come this is so popular in the voting? Clearly inspired by Voilá's success last year, and Patricia Kaas before, that chanson and cabaret can do well if done well occasionally. The arrangements recall Alla Pugatsova when she scored hits over Sovjet Union's borders. A real nostalgia trip that could work pretty well.
Queens of Roses - Washing machine *
Things you only see and hear at the Eurovision national finals. I hate the chorus, the rest is kinda ok.
Rūta Loop - Call me from the cold **
Another fandom favorite. That says nothing to me. Simil artsy stuff, that's all. Atmospheric and forgettable.
