Blogilkar's Bicycling recorter Robert had a quickie with Israeli Moran Mazor yesterday. Find out who she is and who she thinks should go for Israel next year and what are her favorite Israeli Eurovision songs. And if she wasn't a singer, what would she be and why? And why the song is in Hebrew only? And who is her backing singer?!
Thank you for your time. What made you take part in Kdam, the Israeli selection? And did you think you had a chance to win it?
Actually Eurovision is a childhood dream of mine, and I wanted to show the whole of Europe what I'm made of. And Kdam is the first step so when I was asked to take part I immediately said Yes! But not in my wildest dreams was I thinking to win it, so it was a pleasent surprise!
Who do you think was your biggest competitor in Kdam?
Ron Weinreich, he's so talented and had a great song. If he had won I would have been very happy, too.
You sing the whole song in Hebrew, why did you decide to do so?
Because Hebrew is our language, only in Israel we speak Hebrew, it's a very unique language and I love it. We should be proud of it! The lyrics are also so beautiful we were a bit afraid to ruin it by translation.
But are you planning on releasing an English version of it later on?
I'm thinking about it. But we still haven't got a good translation....
We don't know much of you. Can you tell us a little bit about your interestes and hobbies?
I'm pianist. I started with piano when I was 4 years old. I play Beethoven and Mozart and... then at school my teachers found out that I can sing and told me I should be a singer! Music is my life. But if I wasn't a musician I might be a pharmacist. I would like to do some research and save lives...
You are an Eurovision fan. What are your Israeli Eurovision favorites?
I really like Diva, of course. I like Kan. I like Shiri Maimon's song. And I really shouldn't say it but I like Harel Skaat's song as he's brother is my backing vocalist! Ha ha!
And do you have any Eurovision songs in your repertoire?
HaSheket SheNish'ar by Shiri Maimon!
Last question: Who would you like to sing for Israel in Eurovision 2014?
Maybe Ron Weinreich, he came second this year....
Thank you very much for this interview!
Thank you! We really appreciate this!
