Malta has come to its 5th semifinal last night and one can only wonder when we will hear the winner - or have we already?! Petra Zammit offered a nice laid back soul number in pure Motown 80's style. Pamela followed with another mid tempo song that turned into some sort of operetta in the chorus promising much more than she or the song delivered in the end. Nadine Axisa & Clifford Galea had a sugary Disney tune in classic Eurovision style. Priscilla & Kurt, another duet. Another Disney/ESC thing heard about a zillion times before. Crazy violins of Baklava are back, too. And they have a female singer this time around - thank God for that! Quite chaotic and messy but it's hard to judge with this video quality. Last but not least Rosman Pace who might have a good one. Maybe. Or does it just sound like something out of Melodifestivalen? So, out of these who should I pick up... Baklava and Rosman Pace might work best in Eurovision but I liked most Petra Zammit, that's a song I may want to listen while chilling....
The Azerbaijani selection show for the represant was as long as the selection process for the five finalists. Kurt Calleja from Malta and Can Bonomo from Turkey were present with Ell/Nikki to see Sabina Babayeva to emerge as the winner after each and every finalist had done about zillion songs amongst other guests. Now the Azeri TV will shop around a suitable song for her.
