Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

Super Pippo Younger Eurovision fans only know Amadeus and Carlo Conti as Sanremo gods but there's one man who has done more than anyone else, launched more Italian global stars , shaped more the Italian music scene in television than anyone else. He could really own the slogan he had created: "I have invented her/him/them!" The only miss I can think about his career is that he didn't get involved in Eurovision - if he put his efforts in Eurovision as much as in Sanremo Italy would have quite a few more wins I think. The man is of course Pippo Baudo. Born Giuseppe Raimondo Vittorio Baudo June 1936 in Sicily near Catania and died in Rome on August 16, 2025 at the age of 89. He studied law and became a lawyer but entertaining world was what he wanted to do and he started working as an actor, comedian, singer and pianist in the 1950's.   ORF and EBU have decided: the 70th Eurovision song contest will be held in Vienna for the third time and the contest returns to Wiener Stadthalle. The final takes place on May 16 after the semi-finals on May 12 and 14. Yesterday Ebu also launched the new logo and fonts for the Eurovision song contest brand and one can say mildly that it wasn't well received..... After Austria's win in Basel with JJ's Wasted love the excitement in Austria was high and as usual most every town wanted the hosting job for 2026 until the reality kicked in and in the end there were only Vienna and Innsbruck with valid submissions. Katri Helena, the legendary "blue and white voice" and Finnish Icon and legend turns 80 tomorrow and will retire from music business after 62 years with a mega concert in Helsinki Olympic stadium. YLE will film the show and broadcast it on Finland's Independence day on December 6. She's got under her belt some 500 recorded songs, 50+ albums, countless hits, two Eurovision song contests (1979 and 1993) and various other international festivals. Her hometown Tohmajärvi has named a street after her. She has top-10 album in six decades.  She has sold almost two million records and earned 19 gold discs, four platinum albums and one multi platinum. Annika Eklund placed 3rd with Shanghain valot in the Euroviisut aka national selection in 2006 but it has become an evergreen and it was featured in this new version in UMK final with Annika, Eini, Keira, Bess, Laura Voutilainen and Linda Lampenius. Markku Aro of ESC 1971 has released a new track and is still actively performing and touring. Tina Petterson of Beat and ESC 1990 fame continues to release self written music and finally we have Waldo's People's ( ESC 2009 ) latest effort for the summer. Enjoy!
