Have we seen the future of Eurovision with the EBU's wishes to downscale the show and make it more intimate again? Just kidding, but the Belgian affair was indeed something else. Tiny and dark stage in some radio studio apparently, everyone dressed like they were having a lazy Sunday at home doing karaoke with friends... Oh well, these days it's maybe the most important thing that they are participating and who cares about the national final shows ... Belgium is in Malmö 2013 and that's all that matters in the end. The other The Voice finalists were singing in the show old Eurovision hits, and most of them seemed rather down with the voice as well.... Is there a flu in Belgium?
Roberto started his songs with Love kills. A rather catchy pop tune that could sound and look completely different if he dressed up and was on a big stage. Not bad, but he seems to be down with voice this morning, is he? .... Well, the show started off quickly but now we are stuck with advertising, news and all the rest. 45 minutes and one song so far.... it's a long brunch!
Reste toi followed finally. An uptempo song with a hint of Motown and summer pop song. Roberto seemed to enjoy singing this one a bit more and it seemed to suit him better, too. I understood this is from his debut album? Anyways, it would be nice to have a song in French and with some work this could be ok.
Be heroes finally after nearly two hrs to the show. I though they would save the best for last but I think it was the weakest of them. Rather boring and inspired with nothing original and interesting in it. Unfortunately. And Roberto was singing painfully bad English at times....
