Let's continue the reviews with other entries that are at the bottom part of my personal ranking for a reason or another....
Austria - PÆNDA - Limits **
Romania - Ester Peony - On a Sunday **
Montenegro - D Mol - Heaven **
Ireland - Sarah McTernan - 22 **
And I dream about our street where we kissed out of the blue at your house number 22
Sarah isn't 22 but 25, born just before Ireland completed its triple wins in a row. She's been to the Voice and in the Sammarinese selection last year but was now internally chosen for her native Ireland. The song has a minor 60s girlband vibe to it but doesn't really deliver in the end. Pleasant when it's playing but instantly forgotten after. Ireland's next win isn't happening this year and most likely this stays in the semis.... Interesting voice though.
Yeah I’m talking bout you, you You and the luck you try to find
Gabriella Horn (31) aka PÆNDA has been studying music and writing songs and singing in various bands since she was 14. Last year she released her debut album and was internally selected for Eurovision. This song isn't as bad as my mark might suggest. Tiny little Kate Bush vibe needs several listenings and I doubt this will open at all to first time hearing televoters. Like Ireland I kinda enjoy this when listening to this but then I forget it exists. Not a good sign. A great and highly engaging staging and performance could change the game....
I will always be waiting for you to come back home to me
to me, to me, to me eeeey ey, ey, ey, ey, ey
Ester Alexandra Creţu (25) aka Ester Peony spent her childhood in Canada. At 12 she moved back to Romania and has been studying and writing music ever since and has made her made way through cover videos to first single and EP last year, and is working on her debut album now. This song is pretty much like those above. Forgettable except when listening to it. Only that I like more the other two. Sounds like some advertising soundtrack really. I suspect Romania will miss the final again.
Fallin' I'm in heaven Fallin' Straight into your heart
The group is formed by Daniel Alibabic who runs a private music school and is an Eurovision veteran as a member of No Name (ESC2005). Željko Vukčević (19), Emel Franca (18), Tamara Vujačić (17), Ivana Obradović (19), Mirela Ljumić (18) and Rizo Feratović (21) may be all young but their song is so old and dated one can only wonder how did this win the national final? This said, when listened with an open mind it's very catchy and a real unpleasant earworm.... and the new version with the ethnic vibe is so much better. But as they are six, how can they bring the most interesting element of the song on stage? The intrumentalist. Bad planning.....
