In a few moments the Slovenia final will start. I haven't heard any of the songs beforehand so it will be interesting to watch again - webcast permitting - if it is as wonderfully kitchy as always!Rebeka Dremelj just opened the show with her ever fabulous winner last year!
Lea Sirk - Znamenje iz sanj: Black, white and gold the colors for this nice song with a jazzy vibe. But strong enough for Eurovision? I don't think so. She sung well though.
Cuki - Mal' naprej pa mal' nazaj: Ok, this one's a joke entry and an annoying one. Reminds me of Israel 1987... only that one was kinda enjoyable. This is not.
Quartissimo - Love symphony: Oh well, this is like Rondo Veneziano, with some vocals. Almost instrumental classical pop. Imagine this wins and Malta sends Baklava? And the shadow screens are becoming a standard on Eurovision stage just like wind machines.... Not my cup of tea. Thsi idea was born old, I guess.
Omar Naber - I still carry on: Omas was rather modern and groundbreaking the first time but his second try is very safe. Familiar sounding Robbie Williams-esque pop ballad. Hmmm...
Brigita Suler - Druga liga : Here we go finally with some real Eurovision stuff like no one but Slovenians can provide! Strange outfits and a tent on stage. Again white, black and gold. But is this catchy (or kitch) enough? I don't think so...
Ne Me Jugat & Slavko Ivancic - Kaj me briga : A complete opposite follows. An elderly gentleman joins a younger band in this song that is similar to many other in recent years in national selections here and there... Not bad but I doubt this would appeal much to whole of Europe.
Eva Cerne - Vse: Eva is back after being robbed a few times in the past. Dressed in yellow with 4 dancing boys in black she offers a very classic Eurovision pop song, a bit like Rebeka last year. Not bad but nothing extraordinary I'm afraid.
Karmen Stavec - A zi zelis : Another veteran follow in yellow dress and dancing boys in black! Deja vu? This song has slower tempo and bluesy feeling to it. Much much better than that dreadful Na na na she won a few years ago...
Looks like our dear Krisse is creating little Krisse's all over Europe if I can understand anythign that's going on in Slovenian greenroom with that funny girl....
Aliya & Rudi - Zadnji dan : Finally a slutty peroxide blonde in all too shot dress! I srated to miss them! He gives it a nice contrast with his office look. The song's actually quite nice pop song with a rock edge. And the stage act with the wall between them is something new! I like it!
Bjonde - Blonde power : More blondes on stage trying to prove blondes have more fun if they drag in a scary dyke but they forgot they should also have a song to go with it. They don't. A kind of "funny" act that should be forbidden if done this bad....
Samuel Lucas - Vse bi zate dal : He makes me think of Unbreak my heart and Dima Bilan. Weird combination but as I like them both this must be my favourite so far tonight. Dressed all in black with a cap in head like our Waldo he has also 4 backing singers and explosive ending.
Nexys - Vsaj za en den ; Slovenian rock next. She looks like something Anna Oxa would have come up in the past but looks rather captivating in her black angel dress, long legs and yes, she can sing, too. The song's not bad either in its genre. Refreshing!
Langa & Manca Spik - Zaigraj muzikant : statuesque Manca and Langa guys play the Slavic card to the fullest in a song that has been heard a million times by author "trad."... Finns used to go for this stuff in the 70's... Those were the days...
Nuska Drascek - Kako lepo : We stay in the 70's with this last one, with a bit of Motown thrown in. She's got a great voice but that's about it.
Oh well. I have no idea who will win which is rather confusing. Is this how normal people feel when they hear the songs for the first time instead of listening them beforehand here and there? Ha ha! Anyways, I liked Samuel, Aliya & Rudi, Karmen maybe the most followed by Omar, Nexys and Lea? And it wasn't so kitch this year! Now just waiting for the results... Amongst tonight's interval acts it's also Dima Bilan doing his Believe once again. Wasn't he in UK yesterday? Oh he's doing Number one fan, too, after an insane interview as always. Whoeber is his coreographer should be fired. Unless it is him, of course.
Oh dear, this voting looks like a joke. How come the jury and televoters disagree so much?? More details in follow up post in a sec...
