ITALY: SANREMO 2026 - QUARTA SERATA : THE COVER NIGHT

The 76th Sanremo festival continues with the Covers night that no longer (hallelujah!) has no effect directly on the scoreboard but is a separate competition with its own winner and Top-10 announced. The competing Big artists have chosen a song to their liking and invited Italian or international artists to perform together. That brings many Sanremo veterans and regulars back on stage in Teatro Ariston: Morgan, Pupo, Fabrizio Moro, Giusy Ferreri, Gaia, Gianluca Grignani, Brunori Sas, Fiorella Mannoia, The Kolors, Michele Zarrillo, Alex Britti along with international stars like Gregory Porter. Morgan was supposed to be there with Chiello (Remember Dov'è Bugo? Where is Bugo? incident a few years ago?) but after rehearsals he withdraw because he didn't want to shadow the artist with his own talent"... Yeah. Right.

The competition itself sees Arisa, Serena Brancale and Fedez & Masini reaching Top-5 both nights and therefor are in pole position while Sal Da Vinci mania keeps growing. The others that have reached the Top5 one night are Fulminacci and Ditonellapiega who surprisingly didn't reach the Top5 against all odds the second night, Tommaso Paradiso and Ermal Meta as expected while LDA & Aka /even and Nayt may have been minor surprises. Sayf and surpringly Luchè (or then maybe not so surprisingly) also made the cut the second round.

Tonight I will just sit back and enjoy the show. No comments or updates. Back to that tomorrow after UMK final :-)

Nicolò Filippucci won the newcomers ahead of Angelica Bove who collected all the other awards. Nothing against him but Angelica deserved to win already last year and her song this year is maybe my favorite of them all.....

Model Bianca Balti will be co-hosting. Francesco Gabbani will be on Suzuki stage outside Teatro Ariston and Max Pezzali still aboard the cruise ship.

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

CZECH REPUBLIC: MARTINA BÁRTA PRESENTS MY TURN

Czech Republic's internally chosen Martina Bárta has released her entry My turn for the Eurovision as well today. Not sure if I managed to keep my attention level very high for very long when listening to it.... Shame.

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further? No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

EUROVISION 2026: FINLAND - UMK FINAL TONIGHT - WITH ERIKA AND JJ

Finland's national selection for Eurovision song contest 2026 or UMK (Uuden musiikin kilpailu) takes place in Tampere tonight in Tampere arena to sold out crowds. Special guests are last year's UMK winner Erika Vikman (11th in ESC) with last year's Eurovision winner Austrian JJ, Finland's Eurovision 1985 represent Sonja Lumme and quartet of leading Finnish rappers Elastinen, Ares, Turisti and Averagekidluke. It's worth remembering JJ's staging and even outfit was made in Finland last year with UMK team. The show is hosted by Jorma Uotinen, Sami Sykkö and Jasmin Beloued. Read more about them here . Out of 491 submitted entries a panel of nine members along with five audience groups selected the seven entries for the final. Nina Badrić for Croatia

Croatian TV went for internal selection in the end and chose Nina Badrić. She has been around for almost 20 years and has released ten albums between 1995 and 2011. She has also treid to get to Eurovision four times already without a win (1993, 1994, 1995 and 2003). She is popular also in the other ex-Yogoslavian countries so let those 12s run in.... Rumors, rumors, rumors....

While the national selections for Junior Eurovision are going on around Europe and Ani Lorak's been confirmed as host all sort of rumors about the real thing are beginning to be the order of the day. Austria returns - or then not. Andorra stays home - or then not. San Marino returns - well, most likely but not surely. Luxembourg should make a come back - or then maybe not. Liechtenstein is still in the running - or has it ever been for real? Has the local TV ever confirmed anything? Is it just wishful thinking by the fans? Poland on the other hand has confirmed they will be in Oslo. And Italy will be still out. And apparently there will be no ban or such for Azerbaijan nor Spain for the irregularities in and after the 2009 edition. EBU had to change the text in the rules to make it sure nothing like that what happened in Azerbaijan could happen again. Or if it will they have means and rules to back up a ban or sanction.... Katerina Avgoustakis has been rumored to be in Oslo...
