The third episode of AmaSanremo took place last Thursday and with the already familiar formula two more entries made the Sanremo Giovani final in December. Once again the in studio jury didn't quite agree with the televoters as they put the televote winner I Desideri last, and their winner Sissi came last in the televote. This said it was expected as I Desideri already have a devoted fan base.
Malika Ayane was the musical guest of the evening. She came second in the Newcomers 2009 behind Arisa, and the year later got the orchestra in Teatro Ariston protesting and throwing their notes in the air and booing when she didn't make the top-3 thanks to televote. She did place third in 2015.
Gaudiano - Polvere da sparo scored 37 from the in studio panel and 39,43% from the televote and won the evening. He was my favourite, too. The song is catchy and a nice mix of many things, a bit Kendji Girac-esque affair, interesting and powerful voice with rather adventurous arrangement. I gave nine.
I Desideri - Lo stesso cielo scored only 28 but won the televote with 39,78%. Very traditional and very modern at the same time, today's Napoletan music at its most typical. A bit too much auto-tune, half Italian, half Napoletan lyrics but I kinda like this sort of thing (remember my Napoletan music series in summer?). I gave eight.
Sissi - Per farti paura scored 38 but from televote only less than 10%. I kinda liked her voice but the song was a mess with its trap simile passages or whatever they were. But she pulled her nicely together from the pre-song hysterical state of mind to perform. I gave five.
Murphy - Equilibrio scored 33 from the jury and a bit over 11% from televoters. Poor vocals, a song long mono note really between rap and whatever. Nice things in the backing track though. I gave five.
So, the two qualifiers are Gaudiano and I Desideri, Gaudiano being maybe my favorite of them all so far, and I knew I Desideri from before so clearly my top-2, too.
