Alice has given an interview to Il Mattino newspaper where she talks about the new album Samsara and her way of working. Three years after her live album Lungo la strada, and nine years after her latest studio album, Viaggio in Italia that was made of covers, and 14 (fourteen!) years since Exit, her latest album with new material on September 18 Samsara will be released.
"To find the right songs, selected with a logic and coherent art can't happen in a hurry," she explains. "You must not run to record, a new album is such a delicate work, and to find the right people to get the result you want. Now the twelve chapters that I have outlined with the trio of friends/producers who worked with me, Steve Jansen, Mark Guarnerio, Francesco Messina, satisfy me totally. I'm working again also with Franco Battiato, whom I'm singing of a wonderful piece Eri con me. He will include it in his new album to be released in late October in a very different version, and one with Mino Di Martino, but then there are also two new compositions by Tiziano Ferro, Nata ieri and Cambio casa, written for me and that I sing with pleasure. "
But there are not only new songs in the lineup: "I love being able to measure myself with our song heritage and this time I wanted to include 'A cchiù bella, a poem by Totò, later composed by Giuni Russo. And then there's a song by Lucio Dalla, Il cielo, that I have in my repertoire for many years."
Samsara is an album that fans are hoping to be the occasion of the great comeback of Alice: "We are working on tour in the fall that will take me in theaters in major cities and coincide with the release of the album and my new websiste, with totally renewed graphics and content. As for TV, it seems to me that in addition to Sanremo and reality shows, two things that I don't feel close to my way of communicating, the music hasn't got much space. Never say never, however: if something interesting happens I will take the opportunity. But, in fact, my working times and rhythms are perhaps a bit far from the current rules of the show business..."
