Iceland participates in the Eurovision for the 21st time. They debuted back in 1986 and have since gathered some good placings and also last places and zero points. They have four top-10 finishes (4th in 1990, 7th in 1992, 2nd in 1999 and 9th in 2003) and this year they are amongst the (fan) favourites again. This is my life should be a sure qualifier for the final, Iceland's first since the semifinals were introduced... Euroband was formed two years ago after the Icelandic final where Regina came 2nd and Fridrik 3rd. For fun they started singing Eurovision songs and last year Fridrik tried his luck again and came 2nd. The most natural step was then to try as Euroband... Fridrik Ómar (26) started playing drums at the age of 5, composed his first song at 10, and by the age of 18 he had already released 2 albums. He also plays guitar and piano. Since then he has done musicals, sung in different bands and one of his albums has sold gold, another one platinum. Regína Ósk (30) started singing before she could talk as well. In her teens she won teo talent contests, sung with her school choir and studied classical singing. She has also sung in several bands and performed in musicals. She has already been the backing singer in the Eurovision in 2001, 2003 and 2005 and now steps on the front line. She has released 3 solo albums so far.
Paul Oskar (38), the lyricist is one of the biggest stars in Iceland. He already represanted the country in the contest in 1997. His coreography and performance included a sofa on stage and set a new standard for the show factor in Eurovision. He started his musical career very young and has recorded several albums, scored numerous hits, works as a DJ and also hosted radio shows. British Peter Fenned helped him with the English lyrics and will also be in charge for the staging of the entry for Belgrade.
The composer Örlygur "Öggi" Smári (37) already wrote the Icelandic entry Tell me back in 2000. He's from Reykjavik and has been in the music business since early 1990's. In 2000-2005 he was working in Sweden as music producer, sound engineer and songwriter. In 2005 he moved back to Iceland and opened his own recording studio and has worked with many Icelandic artists. Recently he has produced the platinum selling album for Paul Oskar, including it's three Number One hits.
