It's coming again, the troubled JESC. Next Saturday night Rotterdam follows Copenhagen 2003, Lillehammer 2004, Hasselt 2005 and Bucharest 2006 as a host city and next year the circus moves to the sunny shores of Limassol and after that... who knows?
It all started with 16 countries in 2003 but since the countries have dropped out and new have joined in, especially from the east but the number varies from 15 to maximum 18 in 2004. France and Switzerland left in 2005 and Russia and Serbia & Montenegro joined. Next year Latvia, Poland, Norway, Denmark and UK left. This year Croatia and Spain said goodbye while Georgia, Armenia and Bulgaria joined.
Spain has been the best placing country with one victory and two runner-ups and Croatia also won and gained a third place so it is quite funny they both have left the content. Belarus also has one victory and one runner-up and UK managed to score a runner-up and third place before saying goodbye.
Seventeen countries are on stage in Rotterdam on Saturday night, let's see who joins these kids on history books:
2003 Croatia Dino Jelusić: Ti si moja prva ljubav
2004 Spain Maria Isabel: Antes muerta que sencilla
2005 Belarus Ksenia Sitnik: My Vmeste
2006 Russia The Tolmachevy Twins: Vesenniy Jazz
