Life after Helsinki 2007 Eurovision

After dueting Marco Mengoni in Hola, co-written by Mahmood Tom Walker duets with Lena.  Is it time to do Eurovision?

  Oh wow, that's what I thought without a hint of jealousy. Sietse Bakker has been appointed as the Executive producer event for the Eurovision song contest 2020's core team. He is joined by Inge Van De Weerd as Executive producer TV and two debuty Executive producers Emilie Sickinghe and Jessica Stam. Sietse started his Eurovision journey as 18-year-old by founding esctoday.com in 2002, one of the first and biggest Eurovision fan sites then, and this blogger had a pleasure to work with them back in the day. Four years later he moved on to work within EBU and eurovision.tv site before becoming Junior Eurovision Event supervisor for two years. And now he takes on the task of Eurovision 2020 in his home country. Congratulations and good luck with the job!

Update July 12: After the bids were officially delivered in Hilversum two are already ranked out: 's-Hertogenbosch and Utrecht who wanted to have the contest in a tent.... That leaves us with Arnheim, Rotterdam and Maastricht. Apparently they will announce sometime soon the final two officially... The Netherlands is keen on hosting Eurovision song contest 2020 and after initial nine cities and 11 venues we have five cities and venues left after capital Amsterdam has withdrawn all three of its eventual bids following Leeuwarden, The Hague and Breda in the past weeks. There are also rumours Utrecht might not go all the way either leaving us with Arnheim, 's-Hertogenbosch, Maastricht and Rotterdam.  Arnheim and Maastrich may have the suitable venue but Rotterdam and its Ahoy Rotterdam has both the venue and all the rest and after all we may have gone all this circus for nothing: it was the first bid that can be considered valid and suitable and in the end it will most likel...

Malta's finest, The Travellers , who I still strongly believe should do Eurovision simply because they sing in Maltese besides being awesome, have released yet another fantastic song with a fabulous video,  Iljuni fis-Silġ . The title track of their debut album is already its sixth single release proving how strong it is, not to mention their debut EP Xemx U Xita (2016) with its three megahits.  Check out also Umani  and  Ilkoll Flimkien

Biggest radio hit in 2019 so far.... and ever! Topping the chart for 14 weeks he replaced Jenni Vartiainen's Missä muruseni on (#1 for 13 weeks in 2010) as the song with most weeks at #1.  Benjamin's video was filmed in one shot and released late last year, but it's playing on radio only now.....

It seems every year some artist does a video of his Eurovision journey and this year it's Jurijus.  Salt to the wounds of unfair non qualification?

Despite her rather unsuccesful performance in the Eurovision song contest's interval in Tel Aviv, string of singles released so far and none of them really making an impact the album Madame X is proving a critical success and also one of her most fortunate ones in charts for a long, long time. It has become her 9th Billboard Top-200 number one album, and it topped the iTunes charts in 58 countries upon its release.  She's now only second to Barbra Streisand (she's got 11)  as a female artist, and above her are only besides Streisand The Beatles (19), Jay-Z (14) and Bruce Springsteen (11). Fun fact is Bruce Springsteen is #2 in the charts, just like in 1985 with their albums Like a virgin and Born in the USA . In UK they also top the charts but Springsteen takes the #1 spot, Madonna #2. Madonna is also the artist with most Top10s in all every Billboard charts combined: 163.   After hitting number one in every possible chart in Italy, breaking also a few all time records what comes to streaming (most streamed Italian song ever with 81 milion) and such, selling multiple platinum at home, platinum in Switzerland and gold in Spain, hitting number on in Israel and Greece and making the official singles charts in over 20 countries the success has no end: the live video from Eurovision song contest has become the most watched Italian entry ever on official Eurovision channel (over 12 milion), and the video itself has reached and passed 100 million mark becoming the fifth (and soon 4th) most watched Eurovision entry ever.  While the winner Duncan Laurence is appearing here and there while prepairing his fall/winter tour around Europe, Mahmood is touring Italy and making appearances in Sweden (also a first!) and Spain where he apparently right now recording a new single.
