ITALY: ALICE 70 - I TRENI DI TOZEUR

I treni di Tozeur, the Italian Eurovision song contest entry in 1984 placed 5th and made both Alice and Franco Battiato even more popular abroad but also home in Italy where it was one the Top-20 most sold hits of the year peaking at #3.
The song originally wasn't included in any original studio album of either artist but it was added to the Dutch print of Alice's 1983 album Falsi allarmi, and it was released on CD only in 2005 in Alice's compilation album. Both artists have made their own solo versions of the song: First Battiato with the original arrangement in 1985 Mondi lontanissimi in  Italian, and Spanish and English versions in albums Ecos de danzas Sufi and Echoes of Sufi dances, and again in 1986 in Battiato's compilation with a slightly different mix in the end. In 1994 he recorded a symphonic version for Unprotected album.
Alice has recorded the song twice with different arrangements, in both Elisir in 1987 and Personal Jukebox in 2000.
They recorded a new duet version for Battiato's Nel suo veloce volo live album in 2013.
They also sung it live on their tour but it was not included in the live album Live in Rome in 2016.
In Battiato's tribute concert Invito al viaggio after his death in 2021 the song was performed by Baustelle.
(There are also rather horrid covers in Finnish and Dutch as well)
E per un istante ritorna la voglia di vivere
A un'altra velocità
Passano ancora lenti i treni per Tozeur
And for a moment the desire to live returns
At another speed
The trains to Tozeur still pass slowly

Happy birthday Alice!
Tanti Auguri!!!

Regina Lund - naked and censored

Regina Lund's new video Jag är osynlig was censored by Youtube only minutes after it had been uploaded. In the video she was playing a female Jesus who gets crusified in the end. "I was shocked!" she says. "There's nothing more naked in it as in every church! It's ok to have naked man hanging on the wall but my nakedness is too much on internet? ". Oh well, no comment. She's prepairing a new album Dare Regina Lund and we of course remember her from her Melodifestivalen 2007 adventure with Rainbow star .

CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

Boobs for summer: Samantha vs Sabrina!

The old rivals have put their bras (or the lack of them) in peace and entered the studios together to record Blondie's boombastic Call me . Life could be worse.....

Anna Eriksson got married...

... and caused a minor scandal with her see-through wedding dress. According on line poll most Finns however approved the dress and said she looked beautiful. Anna (31) married photographer Matti Pyykkö (35) and announced she would take a long break now and hopefully start a family. Congrats Anna & Matti! Anna is one of the best selling Finnish female artist ever. Her debut album came out in 1997. She has won two Emma Awards and countless other ones. Six out of her eight albums has sold platinum, the other two gold. Her Euroviisut 2000 entry Oot voimani mun that came second later won the OGAE Second Chance contest, thus being the best non winning song of all the national final songs according the fans. Let's see and hear it again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMtgKM9AWg0

Et voilà! Anggun presents Echo (You and I)

So today we finally heard the French entry in Eurovision 2012 in Baku by Anggun. Echo (You and I ) is rather bizarre mix of many things and just when you think you get it the songs takes a turn to another direction. Whistling all along. Very catchy it is. Call it an earworm if you want. Still I wouldn't scream a winning entry but... we will see. In Patricia Kaas like ending me thinks.

TIM SCHOU AND HIS NAKED GRAVITY

Tim Schou has a pretty good solo career going since he left his friends in London. He's travelling the world and relesing songs and videos. The latest one is a great track and comes with a steamy video that kinda takes away from the song really. But who's complaining. If you got it, flaunt it. Enjoy the video below. This post coming after the other Dane, Rasmus Seebach as wishlist for Eurovision. To think about it, Tim would do nicely, too. Maybe he should give it another go?

ITALY: ALICE & BATTIATO TOOK EUROVISION AS A LITTLE HOLIDAY WITH ZERO EXPECTATIONS

Now that I have finally read Alice's L'Unica via d'uscita é dentro biography, or rather her professional biography as it is very much based on her career and albums rather than her personal life, I can also reveal to those who haven't read it what she thinks about her and Franco Battiato's joint Eurovision song contest adventure in 1984. It's no secret she's not a fan of competitions and festivals. She writes (freely translated): "The year 1984 had been so far very satisfying professionally and marked by two duets. First with German songwriter Stefan Waggershausen and Zu nah am Feur that sold in Germany and other countries over 1,5 million copies and the adorable I treni di Tozeur with Franco Battiato that EMI, our label wanted to send us to Eurofestival with, the poppiest festival in Europe or maybe in the world.  Neither of us was very convinced but decided to play the game. We took it very lightly, as a trip or a little holiday. Zero anxiety, expect
