Norway - Margaret Berger - I feed you my love
Margaret, who has been working with Jukka Immonen, the Finn behind Belgium's entry this year, is among the superfavorites this year. And it's easy to see why. She came like an alien from the outer space, looked stunning like an ice queen and fed the viewers her love and will to vote for her. Less is more in staging. The song looses some when only hearing it though. Yet, Norway shouldn't be worried about qualifying this year but how far this will carry in the final is another matter.... as this is rather cold package filled with drama that may be lost to other than hardcore Eurovision fans.... And the intro alone may get some tender people change channel as they might think there's something wrong with the sound. But I like it.
Finland - Krista Siegfrids - Marry me
Krista is another creature and total opposite on stage; while Margaret is cool and distant, Krista is all over the place and certainly more is more! She was an underdog in UMK but conquered week after week and emerged as the winner in the end. Talk about hard work! Krista has a bubbly energy and smile that comes across the TV screen very well and might do much better than the polls indicate at the moment. She's promising a real show stopper on stage with her bridesmaids, let's wait and see! And there's the ding dong. Dana International tried with that a couple of years ago without success, but while her dings and dongs were rather laid back and tentative, Krista's are real in-your-face dongs! Europe get ready!
Belarus - Alyona Lanskaya - Solayoh
Alyona won the national final last year but was left home by the order of the local dictator (should we be happy or not that he follows Eurovision?) but all is forgiven and she's going to Malmö 2013 instead. Not with the song she won with that I actually liked, Rhythm of love. Belarus wouldn't be Belarus if they didn't change their song at least once every year. This new one is annoying and not even annoying enough to become a good one. I don't like it. Period. The only positive thing is it's very different from all the rest in the line up that will surely help it collect points. But I'm hoping this is the fan favorite that fails miserably....Kate Ryan, step back, Alyona is coming!
