Last week the German police arrested three Moroccan men who were suspected of planning a terrorist attack in Düsseldorf. They had connections with al-Qaida. Now that Osama bin Laden has been found and killed al-Qaida is most likely to try something somewhere. "In Europe the obvious target would be the Eurovision song contest in Düsseldorf next week" says a Finnish expert in matter Pekka Visuri in today's Ilta-Sanomat. "It's a symbolic event and happening right now. Europe has been waiting for a new kind of terrorist attack already some time where chemicals or radiation are used instead of bombs."
The Eurovision organisation was on alert already before but now it is on high alert. The delegations are accompanied always by a police in disguise, tells YLE's HoP Aila Havia-Venäläinen in Iltalehti. Apparently there are 3500 police working on Eurovision. In the same paper another expert Teemu Sinkkonen disagrees with Visuri "An attack to such event would take months to prepare and the security is high. Despite being a mass event it's an unlikely event. They would rather target metro, train or bus stations for example."
