Lietuvos Dainų Daina, or the song contest that will be used to pick up the Lithuanian entry for Moscow 2009 now that they are participating after all, has reached its final stage this Saturday. Finally, I may add. The ten songs still in the running are pretty good mostly and some make a very nice use of the very simple stage they have overthere. Still, most of them don't meet the Eurovision rules; there are 6+ people on stage, the songs are way too long so whoever wins must go through many changes. In case the winner accepts to go to Eurovision of course, as if I have understood right it is not obligation but an option.... One that meets the Eurovision rules is Rūta Ščiogolevaitė. Her song is under 3 minutes, she'a alone on stage singing her beautiful ballad. And ballads there are this year! Ballads with intros with piano like Darius Pranckevičius & Violeta Valskytė but I wouldn't count one them, or Aurelija Slavinskaite. The two songs I would definately count out are Saules Kliošas and Linas Adomaitis. Jonas Čepulis & Skirmantė offer a song that is quite interesting and pleasant, with some ethnic tunes thrown in. Milanno & Karina Krysko barely made it to the final but I think it is one of the better ones here. The presentation on stage is quite wonderful, Milanno on screen before he walks to the stage through the audience. It all looks very beautiful and the song is beautiful, too. But I guess it will be safe bet to assume it will be three horse run with Sasha Son, 69 danguje and Donatas Montvydas. Donatas gives a very good performance of his song that makes me think of Calling you, and it surely isn't a typical Eurovision song. 69 danguje, despite the image one might get by googling their photos, have performed with elegance and grace, bringing something new to the performance on each step. Great job girls! The song is catchy and easy and the only uptempo song here, sounds fresh and nice, I've been humming it the past couple of days now.... and that leaves us Sasha Son who has won every heat he has been so far with his piano thriven soulful song that owes a lot to Alicia Keys, in a good way. I can't make my mind up between him and the girls. Saturday will tell what Lithuania prefers.
Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?
