Here we go again. I got only seven right in the first semi-final but eight out of my wish list so maybe I should have listened more my heart than my mind, but let's see how it goes tonight. This is even more difficult tonight as both Finland and San Marino are in it, and for obvious reasons I want them both in the final and even if I do believe they both will do it there's always a little uncertainty lurking around.... In fact I feel a bit like Achille on his bull.....
Strangely this one feels even more difficult than the first one as it seems my mind and heart are even more divided. As of the usual qualifiers Azerbaijan, Malta and Australia in my books don't deserve it this time. Azerbaijan has a very good singer but the song is just meh, unoriginal and heard a million times before. Even more so is Malta and sadly Emma doesn't sound so good live of what I have heard. Then Australia... well, I'm a bit tired of these personal struggle tell all stories (same goes for Malta btw) and no doubt he's got a voice but it's not a voice I particularly find beautiful.
Another fantastic vocalist is Israel's Michael but the song.... No. Montenegro is in theory very good and my cup of tea but no, I don't feel it, nor Poland. They do nothing for me sadly. Belgium's Jérémie does a lot to me, but the staging and all is a bit let down. Sweden is the big favorite but I can't get my mind around it being the Shallow rip of, and like Emma what I have heard so far she hasn't been that great vocally. All can change of course when it matters.
Serbia, Georgia and Romania are mysteries. Serbia could be the fan wank NQ when common European televoters see it for the first time and are left with WTF? and forget to vote. Same goes for Georgia and Romania could, I underline could (but I hope it is) a televote magnet but how about the juries? Is it Michael Szpak kind of result all over again?
Cyprus this time deserves all the love in the world but will it be lost and forgotten being just beautiful and nice? Ireland is a wild guess, could do well or bomb totally but apparently she's great live on stage so I hope she does well. North Macedonia is one of my favorites but I'm afraid it's one of those that ends around 11th-14th everywhere and scores next to zero points sadly.
I have hopes for Estonia and thought when it was selected even as a potential winner but it seems they have lost their momentum and the staging doesn't help. Czech Republic has done the opposite; from meh to fan favorite once the rehearsals started so maybe they are into something. But is it enough considering the results from the first semi-final? This is going to be so exciting tonight!
Ok, my wish list is Finland, Georgia, San Marino, Cyprus, Ireland, North Macedonia, Estonia, Romania, Belgium and then I can't decide between Serbia, Sweden and Czech Republic, depends on tonight's performance.
And the prediction pre-show is Finland, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, San Marino, Estonia, Romania, Poland, Sweden, Czech Republic. I already feel I got this horribly wrong but who knows?
(Should I change my mind during the show I will update here before the results)
